We stopped for some lunch and got a warm welcome.
Very reasonable prices and good food.
It was good to see that the pub was still up and running with so many in the area going to the wall.
Even the locals wanted to chat with us.
Yes there was a couple of cobwebs on a light in a corner but if its good enough for a spider then its good enough for me!
This is a good country pub with local beers on tap and friendly service.

Stopped for lunch one Saturday having often seen the signposts on the A12. It's a little locals pub that's needs a bit of smartening and tweeking. The prices are more or less the same as other like pubs in the area. The decor is a little dated (the dining room in particular) but nothing offensive. The food was not that good (the table next to us returned one of their dishes as it was cold) luckily we had minimal portions lol but that left us requiring a sweet. The sweets were wholesale bought and we asked for cream expecting to pour it but got horrid spray cream instead.
Just a little bit of constructive criticism to the owners. Please bin the awful utensil holders with the round wooden bases that are covered in white dried scale. Some of the serrations in the knives were also unclean. The chair seats are obviously dusted everyday (whether by someones backside or the cleaners duster is irrelevant) but behind the spokes at the back of the seats was really coated in dust along with the top of the rails on the bar stools. It just needs a bit of TLC to get the place clean.

Great atmosphere in a quiet country pub served in a relaxed environment by Pat and Kim, a family team who know how to offer a good English pub experience. The food is great value for money and is typical English pub fayre and Pat serves his great choice of beers and wines with a traditional 'barman' type banter. Posh it's not, traditional it is, a great English country pub in every way.
