“A good surprise”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 May 2014 via mobile

We were there with my family. The pub is nice and the outside on the river is a good place to enjoy sun. Our food was good. Really enjoyed salmon and atlantic cod. Service is ok overall. Maybe not the best pub in surrey but we will come back in the future for sure

“Very good riverside boozer”

I haven't tried the restaurant so perhaps this what the poor reviews relate to, but the pub area and beer garden is spot on.

A good pint and genuinely good food, they make a real effort with the service.

My parents live nearby and didn't want to come in as they have bad memories but we all found it spot on

Thank Myles P

“Terrible service with food to match”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 May 2014 via mobile

Slow, unfriendly service. We could have made better food just going to our local supermarket and cooking it at home at a fraction of the price.

We ordered hummus w/pitta and celery/carrots. Old Gloucester spotted chipolatas. Twice fried chips. Chicken drumsticks. Haddock bites w/tartar sauce.

The hummus had skin on, the pitta was stale and the carrots and celery were dried out and haven't even been freshly chopped.

Old Gloucester spotted chipolatas- what a joke. A small bowl of cocktail sausages that you would expect at a kids party, served on some old wilted lettuce leaves.

Twice fried chips, in my head I pictured lovely classic pub chips that were fat and fluffy on the inside with a bit of a crunch and a golden gleam. What we received were soggy, brown and a poor excuse for a chip.

The chicken drumsticks, were clearly just bought from the Budgens around the corner, could make better at home. There were only two and they were completely tasteless.

Haddock bites, we're not fresh and had clearly been frozen, defrosted and then fried. They were so rank that I gave most to my dog.

I feel that spending my hard earned cash here on a beautiful sunny day was a waste and we could have gone to a pub with much friendlier staff, nicer surroundings and edible food. Genuinely felt cheated of my money and won't be returning.
