“Nice and quiet hotel in the middle of town”
Reviewed 24 May 2012

We did spend the night in one of the rooms in the coach-house of this 'little castle'.
Beautiful , spacious and clean room overlooking the courtyard. Breakfast was in the main building and met our expectations.
Location is superb : green and peacefull environment , only 5 minutes away by foot from the main (recently renovated) market square with its pubs & restaurants.
Highly recommendable.

The Roosendaelhof is a quaint little family run hotel near the centre of Geel. It's within easy walking distance to the railway station and town square where there is a good selection of restaurants and pubs. The hotel has 19 rooms spread over two floors. The building dates back to 1906 and was a vicarage owned by some local monks. A lot of the original features and period furnishings have been retained and some modern fittings added. The breakfast room has a good view of the generous rear grounds with a small river and some ducks. Evening meals are not provided and the gated grounds are locked fairly early at night but can be opened with the room key. A slow wifi connection is available for no extra charge. I was on the top attic floor which wouldn't be suitable for taller people due to the low beams. The stairs were also steep and tiring to negotiate but I was pleasantly surprised to find another smaller attic room upstairs within the main bedroom with a sofa up there.

Room Tip: perhaps go for one on the first floor if your quite tall or have smaller childern with you

Stayed 2 nights on a business trip. Reservation indicated that check-in closed, but when I phoned to explain that I was delayed, they were happy to stay open later. I stayed in a room outside the main building, which was more than adequate & very quiet. Stairs to first floor were a bit awkward with luggage, so ask for groundfloor if this could be a problem.
Breakfast wsa a simple buffet, with "continental" and cooked options.
The hotel has some parking (locked at night), but otherwise parking can be tricky, especially as the main carpark in the square is currently closed for re-surfacing.
It is literally 5 mins walk to the town centre from the hotel.
