“Expected more”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 August 2014

we stayed here on our honeymoon for one night this past July as we were travelling along Provence and Côte d'Azur.
This hotel is bigger than we expected for a Relais & Châteaux property, as we absolutely adore the concept for their small familiar hotels, but it was very nice.
The entrance makes you feel like you are entering a Palace with its long path towards the entrance. The butler that took us to our room in a buggy was incredible, so friendly polite and professional, and what an amazing English.
We had an upgrade to a Suite and a VIP treatment in the bedroom which was very much appreciated.
Unfortunately, part of the Hotel was under construction and we were put right in front of it. Although we were told at the moment of the reservation and we were given a special price (thank you), it is truly terrible. The noise started at 8h00 and it is hell on earth when you are on your honeymoon and trying to relax.

Nevertheless, staff was friendly and always tried to meet expectations and requests.

Thank you very much for your nice review. Regarding the expansion, we carefully inform all our clients at the reservation that a luxury Spa and new suites are under construction. As you mention it this is the opportunity to benefit from a 30% discount during all this year. We hope to welcome you in 2015 to make you discover the new "Coquillade*****Village". Kind regards.

We have stayed here for 2 days and greatly enjoyed our stay. The area is simply stunning with green hills and vines. Hotel has two pools and the water is very warm even in late August.

Food was rather average and bland bit maybe we just had a bad day..

The only other minor annoyance was the hotel porter who was at times rude and asked inappropriate questions.

Other than that we would surely recommend this place and might come again next summer .

We spent four nights at La Coquillade and absolutely loved it! The hotel/resort is on top of a hill in the Luberon (Provence) area, about 10 minutes to the west of Apt. It reminded us of a little village with its multi-building approach, the different levels and the surrounding vineyards (Aureto).

The service was absolutely impeccable - from booking to the welcome, throughout the stay until we had to say goodbye - we were excellently taken care of. However, as this hotel features what I would call "grounded luxury", I could caution those who are looking for a place which pampers its guests to the max (e.g. if you want a drink at the pool, you walk to the bar and order, they don't have pool staff).

The food was very good - a lavish breakfast buffet, easy lunches near the pools at the "Ristorante", and the Bistro as well as the Michelin-starred "Le Gourmet" feature high quality food and attentive service.

The Cycling Center on the grounds was fabulous - one can rent top-notch bikes (mainly BMC) for reasonable costs for half- or full-day trips (e.g. Mont Ventoux) - from carbon performance bikes to easy eBikes, you get what you are looking for.

Our room (302) was a Suite Superieure facing the west and correspondingly also the current construction work. This was not an issue for us as we were told upfront and received a price reduction. The suite itself was beautifully decorated, a low-noise aircon was keeping us fresh, and we immediately felt very cozy.

All in all - we will be back later this year to enjoy La Coquillade again!

Room Tip: As the hotel is currently expanding, some rooms are facing the construction site with the correspond...

Great location and friendly staff

Stayed three nights in Aug. Arrived to be informed that all the restaurants were fully booked. The management will initially "hold" a place in the basic bistro, but you then need to get organised and book all the meals for your visit. It would seem entirely possible in high season to stay here and not be able to use the very busy restaurants. There is a room service for just such a possibility.

La Coquillade is infact more a busy restaurant complex with rooms rather than a resort and is best approached as such. We were expecting the latter rather than the former hence the grade of this review.

As part of the current extensive expansion a new formal garden has been created by the pools. The centre pieces are six life sized, naked, well proportioned and pert female statues. This might indicate that the revamped theme will be more "international kitch" rather than the current luxurious Provençal.

This first-class hotel has everything to offer: excellent cuisine (with several restaurants and menus to choose from), outstanding service and accommodation and superb facilities. There are now two wonderful swimming pools and a new spa coming next year. We stayed for ten nights and had a terrific time. We were not troubled by the building works although all guests are being offered a very fair discount. Werner greets all the guests every evening and ensures that everything is tip top. Like most institutions, the attitude of best quality starts at the top and we are always so delighted with our stay. The staff are welcoming and always happy to help.
We are looking forward to our visit next year.

Room Tip: Building works being undertaken this year so check with the staff on booking regarding room placemen...

This is a nice hotel on a large estate which I enjoyed very much. But then I would say that as I had room 602 ( I think it was ) with private jacuzzi in the garden, great views and very discreet. There are many rooms and as I had a look around it seemed like a lottery as to whether the room you booked would be sharing its garden or sun terrace with it's next door neighbour. There is also some building works happening at the moment which if I were in some of the rooms near those works I'd be very unhappy, fortunately I was well away. In saying all of that it's a great place, good service a nice restaurant, It's not four seasons which it kind of aspires to be but take room 602 and you'll be be pretty happy especially with the discount offered during the building works.

I am still here in the hotel as I write this review. Our car was broken into today at Bonnieux and all our belongings stolen, save for important documents. We literally only have the shirts on our backs left. The staff at La Coquillade has been exceptionally kind and helpful in negotiating with the rental car company and figuring out which police station we should go to. Thank you to Jasmine, Sam and Julie, and others for making a bad situation a little better.
