We stayed in room 1001 (10th floor, "executive suite") It was actually a true suite with two rooms, an en suite bathroom off the bedroom and a 1/2 bath in the salon. It was very large. Bed was very large and extremely firm...truly it was hard as a rock. It felt like it was a piece of wood covered by some linens.

The beef noodles served for breakfast were excellent. All the chinese offerings were very tasty but I would not recommend the western-style breakfast offerings. Hotel staff were pleasant and helpful.

Knowing how limited the offerings are for hotels suitable for westerners in Zhangye, I would give this hotel a good rating. We were pleasantly surprised by it. It is very centrally located and you can get to the drum tower and buddhist temple very quickly. Wonderful location for exploring the cultural and geographical offerings. We would stay there again!

There are limited options for quality hotels in this city. This is the biggest hotel and seems to rest on it's laurels with that. The rooms themselves are a good size, clean and offered views across to the snow capped Qinghai Mountains. The breakfast is strictly Chinese, but I was allowed to cook my own French Toast and Ham and Cheese Toasties on the breakfast room grill. The only hassle was my personal stash of cheese had to be kept with the cleaning staff's refrigerator on my floor of the hotel. There are no fridges in the hotel rooms, which is common across China. There is an indoor swimming pool which was actually very cold, despite the summer weather during my stay. Another annoyance is the mandatory need to wear a swimming cap in the pool. The Drum Tower and central shopping area is easily with in walking distance from the hotel.

Room Tip: South facing rooms have the better views across to the Qinghai Mountains.

There are very few options in this town so one must have reasonable expectations.
This is probably the largest hotel in town, walking distance to the attractions that are in the city. The beds were hard but the shower was hot. The room was large and there was wifi. The AC was weak and the breakfast was strictly Chinese (with hot orange juice).
This is a good place to wash some clothes as their sinks are fairly deep.
There was no english spoken there which was not an issue for use. They arrange for a driver and it was fairly cheap.
you do not have a good selection of restaurants in this town and they close early. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant which turned out to be quite good. Their set menu is a great deal and their beer is cold.
