“New owners, new menu, still fine...”
Reviewed 1 September 2013

Chez Eric is a Wakefield institution. It's been there longer than I remember.

The menu is short and well structured. For starters, great soups, a nice duck crepe and fine salads. The mains a solid duck confit, trout, and risotto for the vegetarians. Burgers for the teens.

The outdoor patio has been fixed up. A sandbox for the young ones, the apple and pear trees are in fruit and the lights come on in the trees at dusk.

The wine list is short and might be given a bit of thought but still adequate.

Dessert is good. A solid pecan and maple syrup pie, lemon tart and a great noisette.

Service continues to be competent, friendly and prompt.

A few good changes but Chez Eric continues to be great.

“Yum, yum and yum again!”
Reviewed 30 August 2013

We had a family dinner here and had a great experience. The inside if the restaurant is quaint but the outside is even better! There is a great patio area, bbq zone and a nice private table at the back near a cute little creek and a fire pit. The surrounding garden is nice too! Great atmosphere.

Have kids?? No worries there. There is space out back for them to run around and a sand box with toys. The washroom also has a nice change table (not plastic).

A lot of the food is purchased locally (ie. beef and veggies) or are canadian specialties (ie. Quebec cheeses and canadian wines). The waiter was very knowledgeable about the food and wines. The menu is unique but not intimidating and the food was great!

Overall we had a great experience! Worth the trip out to Wakefield.

“Poor start, good finish”
Reviewed 26 August 2013 via mobile

My husband and I have dined here before under different owners. This was our first visit under this new owner. To start we were served a basket of popcorn instead of the traditional bread. Might have worked but the popcorn was burnt. My husband ordered a medium rare steak and I ordered the special which was the spare ribs. My husband was served a tasty but very rare steak. He's a trouper and ate it (and enjoyed it). I was served the opposite and could not get past the first bite of a tough piece of spare rib. I returned it and asked for the rainbow trout instead. Should have been my first choice. The fish was flavorful and perfectly cooked. The accompanying grilled veggies and potatoes were also tasty. We opted to skip dessert as my meal arrived after my husband finished his so we were ready to go home.
Friendly waitress and cozy atmosphere. Outdoor seating with a sandbox for kiddies. (Brilliant!) Will try this restaurant again.

“Delicious meal in Wakefield”
Reviewed 4 August 2013

We had dinner at Chez Eric, and it was a tasty affair all round. I had two apps; Perogies and a caesar salad. The perogies were a little hard, but were tasty anyway, and the caesar salad was excellent. One in our party had a beef sandwich, while the other two split a trout special... All were very good to excellent. The creme caramel for desert was delicious as well!

“Great lunch”
Reviewed 23 July 2013

We stopped for a lunch on a hot summer day and began our meal sitting in the small garden area. Unfortunately a thunder storm blew up suddenly so we had to move inside with help of the staff. Given the heat of the day, we were very pleased that the first item the server brought to our table was a full pitcher of ice water. We both had a BLT special that featured goat cheese and arugula - very tasty. Service was excellent. We will certainly eat there again.
