“Great view, great food and awesome staff”
Reviewed 24 September 2013

The evening was just magical, the colours were starting to turn and we decided to visit the onsite restaurant for dinner. As we descended to the restaurant, you could get a hint of what was outside...we were seated in the solarium, overlooking the falls, the wait staff was so polite and attentive, but not hovering over our shoulder. The meal was absolutely fabulous, from the soup through the desert. Both of us decided on the veal and shrimp, done to perfection. The ambiance, food and great service made this an evening of being pampered. As we rolled back to our rooms, the smile on our faces could be a great advertisement for this restaurant. The meal I should say...was made using fresh and local items that were in season, done to perfection. You will not be disappointed, and as the darkness creeps down the mountain, the low lights set the mood for this terrific restaurant.

“Interesting High Quality food”
Reviewed 5 September 2013

Very much nouvelle cuisine - trying and succeeding in being interesting and different.

Service is friendly but a bit uneven in formality. Nice view of waterfall from the solarium. Great for a special occasion.

“Great Service & Food”
Reviewed 27 August 2013

The menu included a list of local suppliers to explain the items used in the dishes. Great food, awesome service. I would highly recommend (especially as part of an accommodations package). We took the 3 night getaway package and could just walk down without bags/wallets and have dinner hassle free and already taken care of.

“Fifth Anniversary Dinner”
Reviewed 24 August 2013

We went to the Wakefield Mill restaurant for our 5th anniversary last night. The surroundings are absolutely stunning! The restaurant layout was beautifully intimate and perfect to enjoy our special night out.

The fine dining menu has limited choices, perfect for us as we like to explore new culinary delights and it was easy to choose the 7 course discovery meal. There is something exciting about not knowing what was to come.

We enjoyed scampi sevichy, halibut tartar, foie gras, bourbon, lamb medallions with carrot puree and tomato sorbet, blue cheese and biscotti as well as a delicious light cake with chocolate accents and fresh field berries. The food was delicious, no doubt about that.

Problem #1: I could have ordered a pizza after we were finished eating.
Problem #2: We sat at 7 and left after 10. 26+ minutes per course with each course being just a taste (less than 5 minutes of eating per course) left a lot of wait time between courses...far too much for my liking.
Problem #3: Seriously, still hungry...at $205, including a bottle of mediocore wine ($55) plus tip is a little outrageous for what is delivered. I don't mind paying but...in this case, I thought it was too much.
Problem #4: the lamb, far too chewy and tough for fine dining.

Good #1: The location and scenery...perfect for a special occasion.
Good #2: The service was impeccable. All staff went out of their way to ensure we were well looked after.
Good #3: The lovely anniversary wishes written in chocolate on our dessert plate...nice touch.
Good #4: The table we were given, overlooking the falls.

All in all, we enjoyed ourselves but were a little bored by night's end. I think that if the chairs were a little more comfortable or maybe some classy live entertainment, we would have been less bothered by a 3 hour dinner. For what is asked for as a premium and for the length of time spent, one would think that the fine dining experience would have been made into an "experience" instead of just a long dinner.

Will I return? Probably not...there are far too many fine dining choices in the Ottawa area that offer a little more for the money.
