The owner seemed to lack any social skills and when trying to communicate with her would look elsewhere and start running her fingers across the woodwork as though she had no interest in speaking to us.
We were quickly shown to our room and then the owner walked off whilst still talking to us, I had to follow her on to the corridor so I didn't have to shout to communicate back.
We were asked to fill in a registration form which she seemed not to understand herself.
The room although large seemed dank and was finished to a very poor standard. The bathroom in particular was a very bad DIY job, the door would not close. There was also quite a gap in the wall where a fan had been fitted, so much so that daylight shone through. The whole room smelt of cheap toilet cleaner.
For breakfast we had cereal followed by scrambled eggs on toast, all the ingredients seemed very cheap and bland. Our eggs were extremely over-cooked and the portions were also small.
We paid £60 and felt loathed to pay it, the place should not have a three star rating. We saw another B&B across the road (The Old Dairy) and wished we had stayed there.

The room was clean. That's all we could say.
There were large cork tiles on the ceiling -hmmmmm, to cover up the mirrors we wondered.?
No soap no shampoo no shower gel.

Please bear in mind here that we were a party of 10 ( decent business) going to a wedding.
On arrival we weren't greeted as perhaps might be normal, with hello, welcome, how lovely to see you.
It was more like:
Right how many are you where have you parked your car you can't park there you'll be clamped your rooms here your rooms there breakfast is between 7 and 9 but someone's already booked for 9 so you can come down at 8.30 you can come down at 8 and I can't fit anyone else in at 8 so you can come down at 7.30 ( hello? wedding reception - maybe late night?) we serve poached eggs fried eggs scrambled eggs full breakfast if you must you can pay me now or tomorrow and on it went and on and on

This lady never smiled, not even once. She never even said good morning let alone enquire whether we had a nice day. Quite frankly I don't think she even wanted us there. More like just send the money and don't bother turning up.
Yikes.
It's this sort of gaff that gets British B&B a bad name.

Despite only spending a short amount of time at the Hermitage B&B, I was left feeling very short-changed from my stay. Upon arrival we were shown to our room which was adequete but the owner didnt seem too welcoming.
There was a shared bathroom for our use which was very dated. The sink was cracked and the shower was attached to the bath and as I discovered late at night didnt provide any hot water! The upstairs landing carpet was badly stained.
We were TOLD that breakfast would be served to us at 0800am-far too early considering we wouldnt be getting back in until 0100am! Other guests were allowed to eat later on which I didnt think was very fair.
The most annoying aspect about the Hermitage B&B was the parking facilities (or lack of them). Street parking is prohibited between Mon-Sat 0800-1800 and there is only space around the back for 2cars-hardly ideal when the B&B is full!! Anyone parking in the court yard risks being clamped!!
Costing £50.00 per night the Hermitage B&B fell well short of my expectations. I certainly dont feel this B&B is worthy of its official rating of 3stars!

I have stayed here before and have always loved it, yes the manager can be a bit quite, but the rooms are large and well equiped with tea, coffee and hot chocs, nice showers and a great breakfast, well recomended

When I arrived at the B&B we were told that the price had gone up to £32.50 - despite it being advertised as £30 on their website, and also being told over the phone it was £30.

There was no shower in the room - just an attachment to the taps, which resulted in either a freezing cold shower... or boiling hot.

The door to the en-suite was an inch too big for the frame so would not close.

The owner was extremely unfriendly and unhelpful. There was no shampoo in the room - and when I asked the owner if I may have some, she said 'we dont do that - you will have to go to the shops to get some'

When I eventually got to get the room was very cold, and despite using the 2 extra thin blankets that were supplied ontop of the duvet got very little sleep.

I was also advised that my car [a ford focus] was too big for the b&b car park and took up too much space, so I would have to park at the front of the hotel which was on a single yellow line. This meant I had to move the car by 8am the following morning!
