“Great cozy little cabins”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 June 2013

My family and I have been going to Addison's since I was a young girl. I have always loved the cozy, rustic feel. If you expect the "Ritz" look somewhere else but if you like a relaxing, quiet comfortable feeling, this is it. Yes they are small, they are cabins... They dog is so friendly, always comes to our cabin for a little breakfast and a pat. :)

My husband and I booked four nights at Addison's Bungalows for a brief honeymoon after our August wedding. We were pleased with the cabin at first. Although it was small, it had the basic necessities and all we were after was the privacy and the hot tub. After a time, we started to notice that the entire cabin was covered in spiders of all shapes and sizes. If you have any amount of arachnophobia whatsoever, AVOID Addison's. We had made peace with the many spiders in there webs around the cabin that seemed to stay put, but then a large wolf spider almost landed on my face as I was laying in bed with my husband. When my husband tried to catch the spider, it bit him and ran away. We later caught another wolf spider over the bed and then another species of spider ran across my husband and down into the sheets of the bed. After having three spiders in or dangling directly over our bed in the course of one day, we cut our honeymoon short and got the heck out of there. If you love spiders, by all means stay here. If you don't want to share your bed with spiders, GO ELSEWHERE.

I've stayed @ Addisons since the '60's when they were located on the north slope across from the
Radium Hot Springs. At that time, these cabins were quaint, clean, little places, that were not out
of place for the times, indeed, they were usually hard to book as the close proximity to the pools made them a popular place to stay.
What a disappointment to find that almost 50 years later the only thing that has changed about
the cabins are their location ! now, no were near the Hot Springs, or much of anything else for
that matter, one might expect that the cabins would have been updated at least somewhat, especially the kitchens which are antiquated to say the least. To go into detail would only be
hurtful, let's just say you wouldn't want to be having to cook there!!
I guess to sum it up...........Addisons offers you all the luxury's of 1966 for the prices of 2012!!

When we started planning our trip, we were excited about the pictures of the cabins at Addison's Bungalows. When we arrived we were greeted by a barking dog that would not leave the driver's side of the car. No one in the office came to retrieve him. We like dogs, so we were not afraid to get out of our car, but we thought if anyone was afraid of dogs or didn't like them, this would certainly be an unwelcome first impression. When we entered the office, however, we were even more worried about this property. The floor of the office was covered with dog fur. The woman who greeted us, hardly said a word, and actually seemed upset we had come. She wrote up the receipt and gave us our keys before saying anything to us and barely told us how to get to our cabin. We, unfortunately, had chosen the "romantic" cabin with the hot tub. The inside of the cabin was so small with the hot tub in it, we could barely walk around, and it was extremely hot inside with the hot tub working. We decided to go back to the office and ask to see another cabin or leave. The lady's husband was there by that time and seemed happy to let us move to a cabin of our choice. So we chose cabin #6 on the hill. We decided to stay, but wish now we had left to find something else. Nothing in the cabin seemed completely clean, we never took a shower since we were afraid we'd get stuck in such a small place, and when you used the toilet, your knees were under the sink. When they say it is "rustic", they really mean it! We only had one night booked and were very glad to leave early the next morning. We would definitely not recommend this to anyone or stay here again!

The cabin's are indeed "rustic", which we wouldn't have minded but having found a much more spacious, cleanlier, more conveniently located bungalow for the SAME PRICE, really bothered us. So after only spending one night here we decided to move to Fairmont Mountain Bungalows instead.
When we first arrived at Addison's the woman at the desk seemed annoyed at having to deal with us and gave us the impression that we were interrupting something. She barely spoke to us, and didn't tell us about check out times, or even where the cabin was. The cabin itself was very tiny. When I booked the reservation over the phone I mentioned that we had a baby and would be bringing our own playpen for her to sleep in. That would have been a good time for the woman to tell us that the playpen would take up pretty much all the floor space in the room. The floor was so dirty, with possibly mouse poop, that I wouldn't let my baby get down on the floor. The bathroom and kitchen were also very tiny and not all that convenient to use. For the same price, we got a cabin at Fairmont Mountain Bungalows with 2 bedrooms (with queen beds in each), a separate living room with a fireplace, a modern spacious kitchen & eat in dinning room, and a modern, very clean full bathroom (with a large soaker tub). Fairmont's cabins also had the lovely deck and BBQ that Addison's had. We were also disappointed that Addison's cabins seemed to be just plunked down on someone's land. The view from our cabin's deck was the neighboring farmland and their fence. There were no walking trails or anything on the property to do.
It was NOT at all quiet either. We could hear every little sound the other cabin residents were making and the trains blowing their horns several times throughout the night kept us up.
Save your money and go camping in a tent if you want a more "rustic" and more authentic forest experience. Or spend the same amount of money and go elsewhere to get more bang for your buck.

We stayed at Addisons a few weekends ago. When we first arrived , we were a little surprised how tiny it was. i think maybe the hot tub, should have been put on the outside of the cabin,,, it takes up a lot of space and we never used it. I think it would have been nice to have sat in it outside at night and watched the millions of amazing stars. The most wonderful thing about these cabins is the quietness... so wonderfully quiet! We enjoyed that the most. The BBQ on the deck is great. the showers are extremely tiny so we just drove up to the hot springs and showered there. One note.. if you are a coffee lover .. bring your own coffee maker! The banged up garage sale looking stove type percolator doesnt do well with fine grind coffee which is all we had brought. We enjoyed our time here and will be back!

These cabins are located about 15 minutes north of Radium Hot Springs. Not too far a drive but a bit out of the way if you want to be close to restaurants and attractions.
Very clean cabins that look just like the pictures posted on the websites. We stayed in a one queen bed cabin and it suited its purpose for what we were looking for. The kitchen was a bit awkward with the mini fridge sitting on top of the table. It would've been a nice wooden table with benches on either side that could've sat 4-6 people, but with the table perched on one end against the wall, only two of us were able to sit there. Makes sense I guess since the cabin only slept 2 people, but still a bit awkward.
We really enjoyed using the bbq on the deck and the kitchenette area was stocked with dishes and utensils, however I would suggest they supply maybe a few more plates/glasses/utensils since I found we had to keep washing dishes while cooking so that we had enough clean ones. There is also a microwave and a hot plate to use.
The bathroom was very clean, yet it was extremely small. If you are a large person, you will have trouble showering.
All in all, Addison's is a quiet, clean accommodation, as long as you are not expecting anything fancy and don't mind being a few minutes away from town.
