“Needs refurbishment”
Reviewed 8 April 2013

The room my wife and I were allocated was definitely in need of refurbishment. Whilst the bedding was clean, the carpet was stained, furniture old and tatty and the bathroom was carpeted; very unhygienic. The lift groaned it's way up to my floor and when the lift door opened, a dark and dismal landing was presented. The rooms cost an average of £50 per night and was not good value. Breakfast was adequate (that the best I can say about it), the chef was surprised when I asked for mustard (I was not surprised when it did not arrive). On the plus side the staff were friendly.

Horrible place. Dirty bedroom and filthy bathroom with mold around the bath. Photos of the sea on the website but no sea on site! Black & white photo of the bedrooms on the website to hide the horror. It's 2013, how dear you charging anyone for a room like that? Horrible smell of cigarette and booze. Felt like we were staying IN a pub! Hotel entrance used for the pub. Very intimidating, had to go through a bunch of rugby fan smoking at the door. Checked in then left to find somewhere else to stay. We were asked while booking how we would be traveling and then we assumed it will be a car park but on arrival we were told it was full and we had to park in a pub car park across the road and had to pay £4.20. Not a good thing to say about the place, certainly nothing Grand about it!

The only thing holding me back from a 4 was mold in the bathroom tiles. Otherwise what a great deal to spend 35 pounds for a room as nice as a Holiday Inn Express with a building that has 19th century charm, generously wide hallways and even a mansion-like staircase with huge stained glass windows! You must stay here if only to keep the soulless corporate hotels at bay! Staff were so nice and let me keep my car there an extra night whilst I travelled into London.

Excellent food very well presented and served with a smile. Smart restaurant or bar area if you prefer. Car park at rear. Drinks reasonable price. What more could you ask for. If you go at lunchtime order from the "2 for £12 menu", you wont be disappointed.

Ive visited The Grand Hotel on many occations and written reviews airing my findings, Excellent Value for Money!!!!

Since I have last visited they have opened up a very well appointed Italian Restaurant called Giovanni's......................THIS IS EXCEPTIONAL!!!! A MUST TO VISIT IF YOUR IN THE TOWN!!!

Food, Service & Atmosphere we're excellent!

The Grand Hotel along with Giovanni's is a real Cinderella Story, a bustling pub/hotel combined with proper home cooked food now with the addition of Giovannis and at £35 per night single occupany its top of my list! (but if you have to be up early for work, ask for a top floor room, it does get quite busy!)

Deffinately, 1000% be back if my work calls me to Port Talbot again.

From the fantastic, welcoming staff, to the overall stay and feel around the place, we were very happy with our stay. Also the Friday and Saturday nights were busy and such a good atmosphere, I would recommend to anyone. Bargain! Great Stay!!!!

This budget hotel opposite port Talbot Railway Station is ideal for if your looking for no frills. room was clean and tidy and warm. In need of modernising but at the price no complains. Buffet
breakfast in the morning, again no complaints for the price of £35 per night.
Down stairs bar very popular and Sunday afternoon saw a band playing.
