“Lovely evening at The Queens Head, Maldon”
Reviewed 21 June 2014 via mobile

Went for a walk down the High Street and ended up at The Queens Head on Maldon quayside. We were only going to have a beer but then we saw some of the food coming out of the kitchen. Had jacket potato with chilli and cheese, and my fair lady had chicken in a bun with salad and chips. How can you possibly complain at a pint and a half, plus two meals (that were both very nice) for twenty pounds. Absolutely fantastic deal and a lovely evening in the sun. Looking to do the same tonight.

“A good pub serving good food at sensible prices”
Reviewed 13 June 2014

My wife an I decided that the weather was so nice we would have lunch out, taking into account that earlier on in the week we had spent £50 on a lunch time meal and the truth is you can only get so much blood out of a stone.
We chose The Queens Head Maldon because it is situated nicely next to the river and outside seating is plentiful.
The premises was almost full but we found a table under the parasol, I went to the bar and placed the order, two x Haddock chips and peas, and two alcohol drinks cost £23.00
The bar staff although busy were friendly and efficient, within 10 minutes the food was served and it gave a good portion and a large piece of fish cooked nicely and tasted nice.
It was good to see that this premises has researched the location, clientele and it was suitable to obviously make a profit.
We will without doubt return and like many silver surfers we have money to treat ourselves but we look for bargains, so we can go out more.

“Nice food”
Reviewed 7 June 2014 via mobile

Went for lunch on Friday, it was a nice day so we sat outside. The service was average but the food was very nice. The cheese was very strong which makes a change, normally most places now it is tasteless.

“Great Haddock and Chips”
Reviewed 4 June 2014

We were on a day trip to Maldon and decided to stop here for lunch. We arrived at about midday so it was not too busy and we manged to get a table outside. There was a good range of real ales which made my friend very happy as they were serving his favourite ale.

We ordered two haddock and chips and one scampi. The food arrived in very quick time and the fish was cooked perfectly. It was fresh and moist and absolutely delicious. The scampi was crisp and plump.

Overall a great eating and drinking experience at a great location.

“Staff problems”
Reviewed 31 May 2014 via mobile

I must agree with the comments about surly staff. I've been coming here for 25 yrs and although the food is average it is sometimes spoilt by a couple of the staffs attitude. Most are very pleasant but if you dare complain about a meal you get a frosty reaction with no apologies forthcoming. Great location.
