“lovely food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 October 2012

The Brasserie has started to provide table service and we had a great meal. We were on a Groupon but the choice was fine and the food well cooked. Starters I had a buffalo mozzarella salad and y husband had melon with mint dressing and mixed berries, both good, For a main I had an aubergine saltibucca and my husband the blade of beef. My veggie option was excellent and would have been suitable for a vegan - really tasty and perfectly cooked and well displayed. My husbands blade of beef was cooked so it cut like butter and her said it was excellent (not an easy thing to do with blade as it can be chewy). Mains cae with loads of veg
Desert is buffet style, the chocolate mousse was lovely, the tiramasu was a bit oddly watery but overall taste was ok.
We had great speedy and attentive service but I was aware that whether you got good service was a bit of a table lottery and we happened to be well poisitioned. Some people who arrived before us were only being served mains as we left and at least one person had to go and ask for service. The waiters were constantly busy but seemed a bit disjointed. Improve this and the buffet deserts and the whole experience would be 5 * , nearly there but not quite but definately a well done

“Buffet style, 3 course meal.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 August 2012

Main meal was a carvery. I thought the amount of meat given was rather mean and the choice of veg poor, considering the price. (£20) The desserts looked nice but nothing offered for anyone wanting a low calorie option. At times the noise from other diners was so loud I could not communicate with the person sitting next to me.

“Avoid at ALL costs”

Terrible service, terrible food and staff who were disinterested. This Brasserie styles itself as a high class restaurant, with a Maitre D, but it is little more than a cafeteria charging high class prices for those who choose to eat ala carte.

“Poor service, average food”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 July 2012

This must have been one of the worst dining experiencing I have had in a very long time. The service in the restaurant was appalling, we waited 15 minutes to even be acknowledged and then a further 5 before we had some service. Our starter took over half an hour to arrive, which is terrible considering it was a cold meat platter. This was followed by another half an hour wait for the main meals to arrive, this level of service when the restaurant was not busy, as there were over half the tables empty, is terrible.

“Could be improved”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 July 2012

The restaurant has been refurbished, and is lovely. The menu provides a good choice and the food is good. However, we ate on a Sunday evening and it was very busy, it took ages ot be served and even longer to receive our food. The food was hot and seemed freshly cooked though. I've previously eaten at a Sunday lunchtime and the buffet is good value for money.
