“canal trip”
Reviewed 23 August 2012

we had a 60 minute trip on a converted coal barge named the elver- it travelled gently through the water up to maldon and back -we would thoroughly recommend it to all ages to young children who fed the ducks and coots to us oldies who enjoyed the scenery.
all the staff were extremely friendly, the price was £6 for adults and£4.50 for conc.there is even a tea stall that is next to the barge departure point

“Walk at Heybridge Basin”
Reviewed 13 August 2012

We hadn't been to Heybridge Basin for many years and had a lovely day. There is a large free car park and a short walk to a boat trip up the canal or rowing boat hire. There is then a lovely walk along the canal to Hebridge and then returning along the seawall with great views of Maldon. There was a leaflet for a Thames Barge trip which we will go back for another day and there are eve boat trips on the canal that you can take your own picnic on.
The 2 pubs looked very good but we opted for the Wilkin & Sons Tiptree Jam teashop which was wonderful.
We very much enjoyed our day and will definitely be returning to Heybridge Basin in the not too distant future and would next time maybe include a visit to Maldon as well.

“I love the lock”

Loads of Boats to look at. A lovely pub close by that does food. We have not been in it though. A nice walk up the canal is good for you but take insect repellent.
