Best tip....read the reviews and know what to expect. It will be our 3rd trip to this beautiful island this April. If you want super doper luxury go to a 5 star resort .This place had character and people return time after time again.
The reef is excellent, beautiful powder sand beach, the most friendly hotel staff you could ever wish for and good fresh and healthy food. All you have to do is relax....and not be too worried about the fact that the rooms may need a bit of a refurbishment! Quite honestly if you visit go these wonderful islands to spend time in a room then maybe a city break is best.
Take some mosquito repellent as they can be a little bit of a problem in the evening but island smoked every day.A pad for,the sunned is an idea for a bit more comfort as they can be hard Camping stores sell in UK sell some roll ups which are ideal.
The food here is very fresh and lovingly prepared by the excellent kitchen staff. There is one restaurant and the food can be similar but always cooked well.Freshly made bread every meal of the day.Salads and fish good and you must try the romantic meal of the beach....starve yourself all day though its a huge dinner!Wine good and palatable and cold beer on tap all day as well as cocktails and fresh fruit drinks.
The spa is worth a few visits with various treatments available to suit everyone.
Snorkelling and diving something else.An experience of a lifetime in 2010 swimming with the giant manta rays....unbelievable but you have to be lucky and at the right time of the year.
Just go.............!

Great snorkelling, nice weather, nice drinks, nice (but not gourmet!) food. Nice place, nice price, nice people. what do you expect for what you are paying for your holiday, just deduct the cost of the flights to decide if it is good value!!
The experience of snorkelling over the edge of the drop off, like flying off a skyscraper! phenomenal!

read the negatives but ignore them, the guys at the bar said (reluctantly, they wouldn't 'complain')they work 20 months on and then get three months at home where they see their kids who they haven't seen for nearly two years and you want to complain about the decor?? enjoy your holiday and count your blessings my friends!! :-)

ssings my friendfs!! :-)

Cannot understand why people are being so negative about this resort. Just returned from a great 9 day stay, and yes rooms are dated but who stays in them apart from sleeping!! Food was excellent and if you did not like the curries- and who could- there was always something else. Staff were amazing- how they could remember what you drink is beyond me, and whether you took sugar or not!!
The main problem that I can see from other people is that they pay low prices but expect 5 star facilities.
Would we come back- like a shot without a doubt- but please do not change the resort. It is good enough as it is!!!

Call us boring if you like but we have been to this island 4 times as it perfectly fits the bill for our kind of holiday. A wonderful location and great weather! The beach is talculm powder sand and there is a beautiful lagoon to admire. There is a house reef within easy distance from the shore and every time you snorkel you see something different.
Food is adequate with a good choice of dishes, there is something for everyone. The bar serves a good selection of drinks, with a few cocktails on the all-inclusive. The rooms are cleaned twice daily and although quite basic they are comfortable.
To go to Biyadhoo you must buy into there is nothing to do apart from chill out!
If you want bungalows on the beach and swimming pools, don't want an odd hiccup here and there, go somewhere else
However for us its perfect and we will return for our 5th visit next year

Stayed here as part of a multi tour holiday to Sri Lanka with Kuoni and I'm surprised a company such as Kuoni are linked to Biyadhoo. The Island is lovely with a nice beach and reef (a bit overcrowded with guests maybe) all the staff are great and do a brilliant job,but the accommodation and facilities at Biyadhoo are below average and are what you would expect to find in some Greek 2 star hotel,I think the people who return to this Island are wearing rose tinted Biyadhoo specs....Sorry!

Room Tip: Bottom level so you can walk straight out on to the beach

What a superb combination of picture postcard perfect coconut palm fringed beaches and shady walkways and beaches. The small sandy island was circled by an impressive house reef, teeming with so many colours and varieties of fish and patrolled by chameleon-like large octopus. I was totally absorbed in the underwater world, and enjoyed snorkelling for between 2-3 hours each day for 7 days, without the slightest twinge of boredom. I really enjoyed the Maldivan curries and tested out the range of cocktails available on the all inclusive offer. I finally decided on a pina colada before lunch, a sunset gin fizz and an after dinner whisky sour. The rooms were impeccably cleaned, spacious and very comfortable. The lack of a swimming pool discouraged families with children - this really is a resort to chill out and enjoy paradise...

My wife and I have been holidaying in the Maldives for the last ten years, and we always pick a different island for our first week, returning to our favourite island for the second week ---- Banyan Tree.
And before anyone comments, yes, we are spoilt on Banyan Tree, so making a comparison is totally unfair!
However, we have often booked a three star island for the first week, and always one with a good house reef ---- we spend pretty much all day snorkelling, so it’s an essential part of our holiday. It also helps to keep the cost down somewhat.
The house reef on Biyadhoo is great, the bar is also very nice (both quite essential), the room was clean and tidy, but somewhat ‘tired’, but what the heck, we only sleep in the room, so not a problem.
The one think that let it down for us was the food, and I have to say it could be a lot better, even for a three star!
The breakfast was limited, with no provision for a cold meat/cheese selection (and no grated cheese on most days for my favourite omelette). What fruit there was seemed like it was out of a can, and the fruit juices tasted like the juice from the same can!
Lunch and dinner were pretty much the same with the same dishes served each day with little variation. I had a lamb steak one evening, and couldn’t eat it ---- like shoe leather.
So, forgetting about the food, if you want a relatively cheap island with a great house reef, nice bar, and friendly staff, consider Biyadhoo.

Room Tip: Ask for a room number around the 50 or 60 mark. Don't forget these are two storey blocks, so 1...
