“Exceeding already high expectations”
Reviewed 28 December 2012

Due to the high price and ratings in Tripadvisor, we came with very high expectations but Cocoa Island managed to exceed our expectations in all aspects.
Everything else would just be a repetition of what has already been written by others.
Fantastic in every single way!

Room Tip: Loft villas for the good sun deck

Cocoa may not be known as a family resort, but our 3-generation family (grandma, parents and children aged 7 and 5) had a wonderful holiday in November 2012.
The physical infrastructure was superb: powder-white sand, crystal-clear seas, coral reefs teeming with fish, lagoons with baby sharks and rays, villas in gently weathered wood and a comfortable restaurant. Plus gleaming white luxury boats.
The routine service was very good too, top marks to the kitchen staff for excellent cooking (and thanks to management for emphasis on quality ingredients). Well done to the room maintenance crew who kept the rooms completely free from sand, no mean feat given sandy children and their shell collections. I even saw the maintenance crew scrubbing the steps from the villas leading into the sea! Service in the restaurant was less polished, although the staff were very friendly and eager to please.
We very much appreciated the way General Manager Laurent Sola went out of his way to help us, in many ways including searching across the world for medication for our sun-rashes and making our children feel special.
We have been fortunate enough to have had family holidays in some fine places, ranging from Tokyo Disneyland, to beachfront villas in Phuket and Lombok and skiing in Megeve. However this was our best family holiday ever because there was something for everyone.
There are however two major problems: we are still repairing the hole in our pockets and are unlikely to experience the perfect family holiday again - unless we return to Cocoa!

Fantastic resort, great staff, great food, great service, in a word 'paradise'

Lina and Abbo in the dive center were so professional and made the week for me (well all the dive center and boat staff were superb!)

Fantastic experience, 2nd trip to Cocoa and i'm sure we will be back!

Cocoa Island is small, intimate and unspoilt that blends in with the environment with minimal impact. We stayed for five nights in a one bedroom villa - well we slept there, even though it was very beautiful. However, everything is beautiful here. The changing colours of the crystal clear water, the pure sand beneath our feet, the 'what is that' fruit, the taste and visual display of the food and the moreish cocktails (thanks Moussa for getting me started). The staff, from our friendly bartenders to Chris, the German maitre d, were always professional but up for a chat and a good laugh. Pictures on the internet are magnificent but do not do the real thing justice. A survey at the end of our stay asked if anything could be improved on. Well you can't improve on the best but they could build faster planes!

Room Tip: For ultimate privacy, especially skinny dipping, chose a villa.

From the moment we arrived and were personally welcomed onto the island by the GM ... U know everything is going to be alright. This island takes customer service to another level and with the absolute stunning setting of the turquoise waters and understated luxurious over water bungalows, u will never want to leave !
Cocoa island is a true paradise, it's boutique style and personalised service - of which every single employee goes out of their way to look after you - is just the way u imagine a luxury island.
I can not wait to return to swim again with the string rays & sharks & turtles & colourful fish, or to sip champagne while the ocean laps on the white sands or to dine on the yummy local cuisine ...... For a little island they make a big impression.
Thanks cocoa island .... You made my day !!!

We visited Cocoa at end of May 2012 for 2 weeks and we were not disappointed. The Cocoa experience was amazing from the moment we were met at the airport, and whisked away to the island, a small dot in the azure blue Indian Ocean. We stayed in a Dhoni loft suite for our first week and loved its position on the reef, it's spaciousness and comfort. Our second week was spent in a one bedroom villa which was even more private, but more of a distance from the reef. We would stay in either of these again. Ufaa, the restaurant served amazing food and service was second to none. The seafood barbecue was a particular highlight along with sushi lunches which were delicious! We spent hours by the pool playing chess, swimming, chilling and sipping cocktails. The spa and spa pool were addictive and we ended up visiting every day. The island is tiny and extremely private, the staff are very helpful and attentive. If you want to escape to paradise and spend your days quietly, swimming, snorkelling (amazing reef) , and catching up on your reading then choose Cocoa - you'll not be disappointed. We hope to visit this little gem again !

Gorgeous blue waters, attentive staff, private residence on the water....what more could you ask for ? Here is what I loved:
The lovely blue hues of the water
The luxuriantly soft white sand
Great service
High quality meals
Privacy
Huge rooms
On the water huts
Great snorkeling (and diving I understand)
It was just two days but I wished we could have stayed longer! Highly recommended
