On arrival by seaplane, our party of 2 were greeted by a lovely and extremely helpful girl from reception. The manager was nowhere to be seen. On the 6th night we were invited to the manager's cocktail party, and I waited 15 minutes on my own being served numerous cocktails, with no manager or assistant manager to greet anyone. Eventually the French manager took a microphone, introduced his staff, who all clapped and congratulated themselves on the wonderful job they were doing. I was surprised to see who was actually running the resort. The manager I had noticed a few times who never bothered to say hello. Likewise the South African assistant manager although he had awkwardly nodded in passing. The other guests were far more friendly. Hotel management in this category should make a point of interacting with guests, and whenever they see them, ask if everything is ok, and if there is anything they could do. This management couldn't care less about their guests, and do not deserve to be running this hotel. I stayed at the Four Seasons Laanda last year, and they really know how to treat their guests. On discussing with other guests, they had the same experience. I did complain about it, and miraculously the manager made a point of finding me at dinner to discuss it, but when I told him what it was about, he had no excuse or apology and ran away as soon as he could muttering he did not want to ruin my evening. Management were conspicuously absent when I left. I can't comment on the Spa either, as when I went to discuss having some treatments, the manageress was dealing with a couple with complicated requirements, and after 10 minutes it was obvious she would not be free for a while so I left, and she didn't bother to ask who I was and if she could contact me when she was free. Again, lack of care by management.
As far as the food is concerned, there was a buffet 3 times a day, virtually always serving the same food, which became tedious after a few days. The majority of guests were Italian, and pasta was one of the most popular menu choices. The New Year's buffet at a hefty supplement served nothing much different, and did not deserve the supplement which was just a rip-off. One would expect good fresh fish, but all we got was large fish served in little fillets, which was generally tough and inedible, even in the Alizee restaurant. These buffets are available for almost 3 hours in the heat, and when dealing with raw fish, salads, etc, the way they were kept cold was woefully inadequate. I had a stomach ache most of the time, and other guests also suffered from stomach problems. The Mauritian wine waiter was very knowledgable, but he has sadly left now. There was a good choice of wines.
On the plus side, there was a terrific onsite doctor, the Italian staffed diving centre was excellent, and the resort is really well situated for good dive sites and whale shark snorkelling which, albeit pricey is an incredible experience and should not be missed. At 9 pm on the jetty, large stingrays and the occasional aggressive tuna are feed on fish entrails thrown into the water, and shouldn't be missed.
I stayed in a water villa, which although smallish was lovely (again rooms much smaller than the Four Seasons). The guests and staff were very friendly (sharp contrast to aloof management).
Although I did have a good time, this resort could be so much better. The local staff can't do enough for you, and I have nothing but the highest praise, but the management, if they could be bothered, could notch up the quality of this resort by another star.

Room Tip: If going for a water villa, ask for one nearer the resort to avoid long walk to and from the room.

Arrival
The paradise begins in the Lounge at the airport of Male. Already there you will find very friendly staff and the standard that will be common on the island. A bar with fresh fruits, drinks and sandwiches makes the stay even better. The lounge is air-conditioned has different areas to sit and your privacy is guaranteed. In the backyard is a beautiful outside area with wooden chairs, sunshades and the view to the "airport" of the typical seataxis.
Yes you don't arrive directly on the island, but the vacation starts by the moment, when you arrive in the lounge! The flight to Moofushi is just about 35-40 minutes.

Island
On the island you'll find more water than beach bungalows. So all places are the most time empty. Because the people from the water bungalows are mostly on their terraces and not at the beach. The staff area is in the middle of the island and kind of hidden - at least you don't recognize it. You can walk around the whole island which is really beautiful and every part of the island has his own beauty.
The furniture is inspired from Bali; wooden lounges, chairs, tables and everything looks natural.
The staff is wiping the paths every day, you won't even find leaves on em.

Food
The food was great. If you imagine that everything has to be shipped on the island, the variety and freshness was just unbelievable. For us the breakfast is very important and Moofushi offers a good choice of bread, delicious cheese, fruits, warm dishes, fresh salmon, cereals and good coffee.
For lunch you have the main area and as well included a little restaurant next to the bar. There you get some small and light things in a really nice ambience. In the evening this restaurant costs extra, but during lunch its covered by the all inclusive package.
In the evening the food was delicious too. The Sommelier was deluxe and the variety of wines is phenomenally. all the restaurants offer a lot of space to sit, so that you won't feel like on a crowded island.
We used our voucher to eat once in the à la carte restaurant. That was nice too but for the rest of the vacation we stayed at the main restaurant, because for us the food varied more than enough.
During the day you get free drinks and there is a tea time with some cakes at the bar. We loved the banana boost :-)

Excursions
Normally we are more the active ones. But this place is so beautiful that snorkeling, lying at the beach, reading was enough for most of the times. If you like to do something you can go to Mario at the beach house and rent some snorkeling equipment, a pedalo boat, surf board or kayaks. They offer a lot of other excursions. For example to special reefs with sea turtle or snorkeling with whale sharks and so one. One excursion (we took the "snorkling extravaganza") was free.
As an extra we booked the whale shark excursion and this was amazing. These big animals are so peaceful and it is great to swim with em. It is expensive (250US$ / Person) but worth it.
There is a small gym and yoga lessons in the morning and evening at the honeymoon jetty which is a wooden house at the beach (for Yoga we have to give a small minus point, because in our opinion an island like this one should offer free Yoga lessons, but only the first twenty minutes of each lesson were free).

Bungalow
Our bungalow was situated great (Nr. 9). You have a wooden floor, nice decoration, a big cupboard (opens like a treasure chest, an Mac mini (if needed) and the most beautiful bathroom if ever seen in a hotel. The room had an air-condition which is during the night very comfortable. To the beach you have a terrace with a hammock, lounge chairs, beach chairs and your own little garden with white sand and view to the turquoise sea. The mini-bar is included and they fill it up every day.

Staff
The staff is really friendly we had no bad experience just sometimes we had some problems to understand the accent, but that was more funny than a problem.

Spa
The Spa is just perfect. Pure relaxation in an astonish environment. We booked two massages because they were so good an the relaxing area in front of all massage-bungalows is just perfect to calm down and enjoy your tea after the treatment.

All together it was just PERFECT and we'll come again as soon as we have saved enough money :-)

Room Tip: From Beach Bungalow 9 to 1 you have a perfect foresight. Just the ocean and no one in front of you...

My family and I went to Moofushi Resort for the last Christmas (2012-2013), we have been going to Maldives for ten years and we have seen so many wonderful resorts and beaches around, but I have to recognize that place surprised me specially. The food and the facilities were great, but I specially enjoyed the night's entertainment, with Dee J Sanjeewa, we had such a greats moments and nights with his music. Moofushi has it all, you can relax yourself and at the same time have so much fun if you feel like dancing in the night.

After a rocky start to our honeymoon being delayed by Emirates and missing one nights stay in Moofushi this all melted away as soon as we were greeted by the staff at the airport. Again although we waited 3 hours for a sea plane the staff were attentive and explained the reasons behind this. Having already provided the hotel with a length review I want other holiday makers/ honeymooners to have an honest review of Moofushi.

The surroundings is perfect, you feel like you are in paradise. Although the island is small, you can walk round the whole place in 8 minutes it forces you to unwind and enjoy your holiday. For us it was perfect setting, if you like peace and not much to do apart from sit on the beach, sit by the pool, be pampered in the spa and then eat its the place to be!

We never experienced any problems with the staff. In fact every single employee (bar one person) will not walk past you without greeting you. The restaurant staff are attentive, they remember your drinks and cant do enough. It helps if you are friendly to them of course.

At part of our honeymoon experience we booked a private cinema on the beach. It was one of the highlights, what an amazing experience you pick your own film from a good selection of films. You arrive at reception the lady greets you takes you in buggy with two jugs of cocktails, popcorn, ice cream to a secluded area on the beach. You sit under the stars on huge cushions and take it all in. Everything was organised to perfection.

The spa was amazing, who wouldnt want to relax back hear the waves crashing and look down on the floor to sea the fishes swimming by.

The beach villas are spacious, so clean, turn around twice a day but if you want anything at all the staff will help you in a flash. I ran out of contact solution we asked at reception and because it's on a secluded island we had to wait few days to see what could be done. In the end solution was bought in from Male especially. I paid minimal to cover the cost of the solution! The mini bar was stocked up every single day. On a couple of days when the storms came in (Sept rainy season) we were waiting for lunch at the Totem Bar we had to run back to the villar for shelter the staff bought our food along to the room. What great service! They will also bring your drinks over by the pool, we asked for nuts / ice cream little extras you get them.

Nothing is too much trouble and the management dont always go out of their way to have a long conversation but will make the effort to check all is ok.

Although the island is sprayed daily to avoid mosquitos I managed to get a few bites (which is normal anywhere I go). We mentioned it to the general manager who immediately sent someone to our room to check the problem and have it sprayed in case. Again what great service.

There was one slight blip but quickly sorted. We received a bill with charges from the Totem Bar for food which is supposed to be all inclusive. The reception staff got this wrong and apologised.

If theres any room for improvement some entertainment for a couple of evenings would have been nice. In 9 days we saw one show which wasnt publicised enough we just so happened to hear the music from our villa.

Overall we miss the paradise, excellent food (so much choice and talk about desert heaven), excellent service, banter with the restaurant staff. We would go back in a flash, perhaps for a anniversary.

We took a while to make the decision when booking because of the price. But bear in mind it's worth it with it being an all inclusive resort.
