What a beautiful place this is!!!! We really loved it and would love to go back.

BUT then upon return we saw that they have charged us way more than the amount reflected on the booking. (Booking was made through booking.com) Trying to get this sorted is a pain in the bum as calling doesn't work - promised a mail answer back the same day and 4 days later still no reply. 2 Emails later and I am stll waiting for the hotel to reply.

Do I recommend this - absolutely yes, but make sure you check and double check all charges that was done before you leave. We didn't get a copy of the charges that was made upon booking, only saw on the card statement afterwards that it was not the same as in the confirmation mail.

Room Tip: The water villas is worth the extra pennies

Dear Valuable Guest,

Sunny Greetings from Maldives!

Thank you for staying at Olhuveli Beach & Spa Resort during your recent holiday in the Maldives and for sharing your experience with us. We are delighted to hear that you had a wonderful time at the resort and it has been certainly a pleasure having you with us.

As for the confusion you had on being overcharged, for which we had sent you all the details and receipts signed by you for your booking & extras at the resort apart from all the details sent with confirmation email before your arrival. I’m certain that our email with attachments will certainly be an assistance in altering the misinterpretation from your side as “wrong charges”. Please acknowledge receipt of our email communication to you.

Once again thank you very much for staying with us and we all at Olhuveli are looking forward to the prospects of welcoming you back in the near future.

Kind Regards,

The vacation generally was very good, the resort was very nice, relaxing, and also there were activities if any one is interested
The only drawback was that the ocean there was not very good for swimming also there were no much fish to see
Regarding the staff all of them were friendly and nice except for one accident while i was leaving as they wanted me to pay for the one time camera in the room as they claim its opened while this was not true, however i payed for it because i had no time to argue

This was my second visit to maldives and the speed boat transfer took 45 minutes to reach the island. Did not feel so long as I thought it would feel like. On reaching the island we were warmly welcomed. They took us to the reception with a person beating drums infront of us which I felt awkward. The checkin was smooth and I stayed at the Deluxe room. The room may look dated to some but I loved the room, the bed and the balcony with the sea view. The toilet was very poorly equiped and really needed some makeup. No bidet, No health faucet etc. This did not suit a 4star delux resort. The rooms were cleaned and toiletries refilled promptly.

We were on a fullboard package and the food was great. The staff at the restaurant were very friendly. Especially I do remember Mr Asim and Mr Ismail with their smiling faces serving the guests. The free cocktail party was a great surprise. Every evenings there were entertainment programs and it was fun.

The cost for liqour, beverages, soda, water etc is very high. A bottle of cheapest whiskey will cost 177 USD including tax. Remember you cannot take liquor to Maldives as its a muslim country. So for partying be ready to spend. If you have free space in your luggage carry some juice, water, soda etc as the complimentary water supplied a day will not be enough when you spend time in the sun.

The resort has points where snokerling can be enjoyed to the best. You will be able to see baby sharks, manda rays etc. Taking a snorkel set and fins will be a good move than renting it from there. If you love spending time in the sea and do not want to get tanned then its good to take a UV protection swim suit with you and yes sunscreen is a must. The infinity pool was one of the other things I loved in this resort.

Those who want to make lot of phone calls its economical to take a prepaid card from airport than using international roaming service.

In brief

Cons
1) Delux room toilets were disappointing
2) 45 minutes journey may be tiring for some, but its worth it :)
3) The price of liquor is too high

Apart from the above its an awesome place and I did not want to checkout :)

Room Tip: Delux rooms on the west side of the island will have cool breeze all the time.

Having read the reviews on this site voraciously before making a booking I was pretty sure it would be a great holiday, but had some reservations. From the moment we arrived, all those worries were laid to rest. I visited Olhuveli for a week with my 16 year old son to celebrate him finishing his exams - we booked direct with BA on a flight and hotel basis and the whole thing was really, really easy to do. And BA fly directly to Male so no need to stop over in the middle east. We were greeted by staff at the jetty and from then on in the whole experience was first class. We were on an all inclusive deal and the details were explained to us very clearly in terms of what we could eat and drink, including wine, beer, soft drinks and half a dozen cocktails. We stayed in a Jacuzzi Water Villa which was just amazing, although if (and when) I return I am not sure if I would bother with the Jacuzzi again. But having a deck straight into the sea was fantastic. Although the island is small, we were never bored and snorkelled, dived, played tennis, badminton and table tennis and swam/read/lazed around for hours on end.
A word for Vegetarians - some reviews on this site say the resort is poor for them and when we told the staff we were veggies the response was "oh, we don't really cater for Vegetarians". But we did just fine. Breakfast is always going to be OK. We tended to lunch at the pizza place right by the pool. And at dinner there was always a veggie curry and of course a pasta station that will cook whatever you want for you. Plus loads of breads, deserts, salads and loads of other stuff. Whilst the food was not gourmet (either for meat eaters or veggies), it was fresh, hot, delicious and plentiful! Not a huge amount of choice for veggies, but we are used to that right? As everyone else has said, the staff really make this place special and we were waited on hand and foot at every minute of the day, without the staff seeming to be too ingratiating or making a nuisance of themselves. And whilst this is very definitely a honeymoon destination, there were plenty of families there too. With BA we paid £4.5k for the two of us for flights, transfer and hotel with all inclusive. Considering where the destination is, I thought that was pretty good value. Thank you Olhuveli for a wonderful holiday!

Room Tip: Water Villa is a must, but the Jacuzzi is really a bath - think about whether you really need it if...

If you are exhausted, and fed up with modern life, you should relax and enjoy in Olhuveli Resort in Maldives. A very small, but beautiful place, suitable for diving, swimming and relaxing in one of the water villas could give you a new energy and positive approach.

Room Tip: The best accommodation is a luxury water villa accommodation.

Dear Valuable Guest,

Warm Greetings from Olhuveli Beach & Spa Resort,

Thank you for taking time to share your reviews on Trip Advisor, as it is only through feedback of our patrons that we can continuously review and improve our services and quality offered.

We are certainly distressed to read that some aspects of your stay did not meet your expectations and would like to apologize for the same.

However please be assured that the mattresses used at the resort are dust free & bugs free. Also it is quite surprising to read such remarks for the mini bar and our F&B staff which is unlikely as we carefully train the staff and strictly monitor everything very closely, but this along with the other issues posted are seriously taken note of and looked into promptly.

In addition, I would also like to speak to you with regards to the concerns raised by you above in order to understand what exactly went wrong. Please send me an email at moosa.rasheed@olhuvelimaldives.com as per your convenience.

We really hope to get the chance to host you again at Olhuveli someday in the near future.

Warm Regards,

Not being the resort-holiday lovers, we decided to spend 10 days at Olhuveli Beach and Spa Resort nevertheless to recover from a high-stress work project. Organization and transportation was good, although at the airport in Male, it took us some time to find the right boat transfer (we had to ask around and wait for 15 min, not a big deal though). The resort itself is nice and clean, AC works perfectly, although you gotta like the resort type of holidays (as I said, we do not!)! We ended up kitesurfing and scuba-diving a lot because there is not much else to do on the island, besides lying on the beach. Diving school was very good and friendly, the water-sports center not so much, these guys could use a little more service orientation (in particular the German owner). Food was good, all-inclusive is not essential. Ok value for money.
