We stayed here in October for one week. The weather was one thing that ruined the honeymoon as was quite windy and many scattered rain showers. The resort is beautiful and you feel as if you are on a deserted island. The hotel staff are very helpful and rooms were cleaned twice a day.
As you are on an island you can walk around in 20 mins there is limited stuff you can do so make sure you take enough books to read!! The infinity pool is a good way to spend the days relaxing away however.
The only thing that went wrong for us was we both got food poisoning from a chicken dish we ate which ruined a couple of days of the holiday as we were stuck in our room. Other than that this resort was lovely.

I have never been so relaxed in all my life! This place is so lovely. We went in June and had not a single day of rain, just a bit cloudy one or two days. The food was great, we ate in the Teppanyaki restaurant one night and the sushi was amazing. We went on an excursion to our own island where they set up a tent and served us lunch which was great. We sat by the pool, on our sun deck and went snorkeling. We stayed in a water villa, it was really nice. the water was a little choppy to swim in and the ocean floor was rocky so not great for swimming but it was great for snorkeling. The only down sides were some kids arrived and were noisy and the bar was always empty! There wasn't much life, which is what some people are looking for. Personally I like to have the option of activity/life/buzzing bar or tranquility in a beautiful room. Some people mentioned "trash" island in reviews so we were conscious of that when we arrived and we could see it from our room (we could see some smoke and the occasional small flame but it wasn't so big that you couldn't ignore it). We thought about changing rooms but we would have lost our sunset view, the sunset view is worth putting up with the small sight of the island. I think next time we go we would go somewhere with a bit more life but for a first time in the Maldives it was amazing and I would highly recommend Velassaru.

My wife and I stayed at Velessaru celebrating our wedding anniversary. Everything about the stay was perfect from the minute we arrived. The colours were the first thing that hits you : blue sky / white secluded sandy beach and warm turquoise waters with an array of beautiful fish. Food was superb - especially breakfast and the Japanese restaurant ; service was first class ; ambience perfect ; and the room (a water bungalow) was very romantic. Each morning we woke at sunrise (which was just as beautiful as sunset, we opened the doors to our room onto our balcony over the sea and then walked down our steps into the sea for a quiet morning swim. Absolutely perfect ! Then later, a quick session in the gym before strolling off for breakfast. This is a real getaway island - very quiet and very romantic. Perfect !

Room tip: Go for the A La Carte option if booking rather than b+b as this works out cheaper.

We stayed in a beach bungalow for 10 days. It was out first trip to the Maldives and we will definitely be going back. The room was fantastic, the choice of restaurants superb (in particular we loved Etisian) and the service in the restaurants was first class. The swimming pool is beautiful and having a tennis court and gym in the resort was perfect for us. The only complaint we had was around the service at the front desk (very slow and they made mistakes around our bookings which resulted in us not being able to go on a sunset cruise). All in all we would highly recommend Velassaru.

A getaway to the Maldives already conjures up breathtaking views, stunning beaches with white, powdery sand and soft aquamarine waves. Velassaru takes the experience and expectation to another level.

An excellent choice and a mere 25 minutes by boat from Male.

We stayed in a De Luxe bungalow, the bed was less comfortable but the rest of the room well appointed.Amenities in the bathroom - L'Occitane - a very welcome sight and replenished daily.

The staff are extremely helpful although it took some time to get the room made up on the second day.

The restaurants and public areas are very well kept , and clean.

The food is good, and the portions generous. Wish they would cover the food on the buffet as there is definitely a problem with flies.

The staff are friendly , helpful and very attentive, from the front desk to the waiting staff at the restaurants to the spa . Highly recommend the spa.

Velassaru offers the perfect romantic escape for couples.

Room tip: Beach villas are on the beach , and larger.Having said that the De Luxe bungalows are a few steps not even a walk away from the beach and perfect for couples.
