Relaxing and refreshing all the way.Our stay was peaceful, serene and privacy exactly what we were looking for.Our water facing bungalow had corals in the backyard ocean waves with sugarry sandy beaches. The staff are very friendly and polite. The food is excellent and very varied good offering for the multi cuisines array buffet spread lover.

The sports bar is very good with fantastic music and bar overlooking the ocean. The snorkling and diving trips were very professional and good.
Maldives is luxurious and awesom,I was overwhelmed with this trip.

Holiday Island is only 17 minutes by plane from the international airport. The resort is one of the most natural around with beautiful gardens and fabulous beaches. The bar looks out on one of the most memorable views with gorgeous blue seas and a long jetty. The spa is wonderful and peaceful with gardens you can sit in after your treatment. The treatments are varied and professionally delivered. The highlight is the diving ...the dive team arrange many wonderful dives from whalesharks to mantarays and schooling mobula rays...it cant be beaten! Prices at this resort are amongst the most reasonable in the Maldives and I strongly recommend it to anyone planning to visit Maldives.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the lagoon have the best beaches.

The flight from Male was really short (less than 20min) and the aerial view really set the holiday mood. The hotel itself is situated on a small island right next to the airport, so make sure you get a bungalow on the inner side of atoll!! If not, complain and ask to move the next possible day, because the view is much better there.

Rooms are nice and tidy, and all the hotel facilities are in a good condition. Food is just delicious, so full board is definitely a good option. Half board is ok too though, that way you can try different things at the restaurant or simply order something from a room service.

The place is peaceful and quiet, with lots of activities (gym, spa, table tennis, water sports, diving, etc..)

Highlight: stingray and shark night feeding

We only stayed for four days though, so maybe after a week you can really get bored...

On the short flight from Male to Holiday Island we already knew that we were in for an absolute treat, the scenery from the plane alone was mind blowing.

Our room was quite basic, bed, wardrobe, safe, TV etc, but the real novel factor was an outdoor shower! Whilst our room was basic we spent very little time in our room and if the ocean is less than 20 steps from your back door then why would you! The room was, however, spacious and clean. As many have said there were a few ants that made it into the bathroom and they ended up being on the wrong end of my shoe! We simply got a towel and blocked off the gap between the back door and the bathroom.

There was one main restaurant and a smaller 'cafe'. Some people found the fact that we were allocated one table throughout our whole holiday quite strange but it didn't really bother as we made friends with our 'table-neighbours'! The food itself did not vary a huge amount and as my wife is a vegetarian she really did struggle, when asked the hotel staff did manage to rustle up a simple tomato pasta dish for my wife but in the main it was quite poor for her. The quality of food was ok as you'd expect in a buffet restaurant it was very much made in bulk.

The hotel staff were always smiling and friendly and whilst they were generally quite laid back when we asked to move rooms they did what they could to accommodate.

The island could not be faulted, there's really not a great deal to do but every morning it looked like I was staring at a postcard. White sands, turquoise waters and baby sharks swimming within half a metre, what more could you want? The resort did not have a pool and initially we did think it was going to be an issue but we spend most of our time snorkelling in the amazing waters with some vibrant fish.

I would recommend that you take a torch, as it gets dark quite quickly and quite early. We forgot to take our water shoes which was a mistake as there were coral deposits on the entrance to the ocean. I swam with Whale Sharks which is an absolute must but ensure that they are in the area as there were a few no-shows before I went on my trip.

All in all I would say Holiday Island is value-for-money-maldives we had a great time.

Room Tip: One side of the island faces a runway, so you want the side where there Jetty is. The airport is not...

I was with my wife for 4 days during Jan 2013. The weather was around 23-31 degree c. The best set of rooms are from 136-169. We had stayed at 168. From 168 the beach bar is very near and so is the water sports center. The sea near the beach bar is the best for swimming and snorkelling.
The food was good and was tasty (we were on Full board). A table gets booked for a particular room number and the occupants are expected to use the same table throughout their stay. The bad part was that water was not available during Lunch/Dinner. You need to buy a 1.5 ltr for $4 plus taxes. The worst experience was with the waiter who served us, infact all the waiters looked upon the customers as if we were eating on the waiters expenses. LOL.
Their service was entirely focussed on receiving tips from the customers. To be precise they will not serve you properly until u tip them...This was worst thing!!!!!!!!
The staff that serves the bar were the best. They happen to do their job very nicely and their focus was towards customer service.(meera bar and beach bar).
Housekeeping was good!
The rooms near the generator are not great and should be avoided. You can google out the layout of the island for your reference.
The hotel authorities should strongly discourage tipping of individual staff.Rather there should be a common box at the reception where the tips should be dropped and the same should be distributed among the entire staff annually.

Its a lovely place for peace and solitude. You can make use of the free shuttle trips to Sun island if you are looking out for a crowded place.

Soda water 300ml, coke 300ml were $4 plus taxes.

Room Tip: Rooms between 136-169 are the BEST rooms.
