“Best choice that we made !”
Reviewed 26 July 2013

My husband and I were guests of this great resort in April 2013 (our honeymoon :) ). It was a magnificent experience and everytime we watch the hundreds of photos taken, we wish that we never left. Everything was just right, from the flight (with Edelweiss), to the accomodations, staff and mostly, the water ! The reef barrier that potects the island makes the water around it calm and warm all day long and you can swimming or snorkeling along with different fishes or even baby sharks. You can go snorkeling with the the tortoises (really big ones), see the dolphins or even the bull sharks (they are scary, indeed, but not dangerous if you know how to behave around them).
We were on the all inclusive package and it was the best choice, the drinks at the bar or restaurant were pretty expensive. We also visited the local island near the resort and I was impressed by the people and their way of living. We went to Sun Island also for a day, and it was interesting, mostly because of the water villas and the pool, but it was more commercial and crowded, so we got back quickly to our own piece of heaven on Holiday Island.
The food was very good and we always found something to eat, although it wasn't very diversified (mostly fish, chicken and beef). We aren't picky so we enjoyed it. The desserts are very good, altough very sweet.
We stayed in the room 152 (near the sports area and beach bar) and it was lovely, very quiet and relaxing.
It is a destination that I recommend to everyone who appreciates nature and the beautiful things that it offers us, so if you are looking for luxury or parties all night long, this is not the place for you. :)
We have already made plans to go there again next year !

Room Tip: Even though everyone recommends the rooms on the jetty side, I didn't like them very much (the w...

A lovely peaceful Island a short hop by aeroplane from Male. Taking the boat is out of the question as it takes 4-5 hours. The Island and two others is surrounded by a reef making the water calm and clear. English was spoken by all staff and they enjoyed the interaction when invited. The staff were all exceedingly friendly going out of the way to suggest what trips or entertainment suited us. Very impressed with the Dolphin trip where they lived up to their promise of no Dolphin sighting you didn't pay!. When we did find the pod, wow, what an experience, between 50 - 75 dolphins all performing to the boat for over an hour - even the tiniest of youngsters who were no bigger than 2/3rds of a metre. If available we would recommend the all inclusive as the drinks are far from cheap, but you need to play the rules to ensure you order your drinks at the right bars within the correct time windows. Not complicated and most staff will warn you if you do try to order during the 'payment' periods.
Overall a very good holiday, very relaxing and very peaceful but most of all no swimming pool - who needs one with all that lovely water around you :-).

Room Tip: rooms 140 - 170 are the best on the island

Holiday Island Resort and Spa is a truly spectacular and unspoiled place to spend your vacation. We enjoyed 10 days on Dhiffushi, at the resort, leaving on 5 June 2013 very disappointed that we could not stay longer.

Holiday Island Resort and Spa is a beautifully maintained resort that covers most of the island of Dhiffushi, which is just 700 metres long by about 125 metres wide. The resort provides a range of high quality facilities to meet the needs of all travellers including watersports, fine dining, room servce, wi-fi, bar, gym, spa, sauna, sports facilities, boat trips etc. etc. The restaurant caters for all tastes with chefs on hand to ensure you are happy and content with the range of dishes on offer. Many of the facilities are available to order and staff are available 24/7 to cater for your every need.

We were overwhelmed with the standard and quality of service from the warm and friendly staff who went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and well cared for. Our accommodation (125) was immaculate and cleaned by the staff twice a day!

Notwithstanding the full range of excellent facilities on offer, we found the most relaxing way to spend the day was simply swimming in the lagoon and lazing on the pristine beaches. You have no need for a swimming pool on Holiday Island. The lagoon is crystal clear, completely unpolluted and very warm! The sand is glacial white. Wonderful!

While at the resort we were very pleased to find a cosmopolitan mixture of guests from Germany, Finland, Russia, Poland, France, Netherlands, Japan, China, Sri Lanka and India. We enjoyed very much being among such a friendly and diverse group and found it refreshing to be the only guests from Scotland at the resort.

Flying from Emirates from Glasgow via Dubai was a pleasure in itself. We were very well looked after by the airline as you would expect. The flight connected at Dubai for onward travel to Male, which was followed by a very short (20 minute) 'FlyMe' flight from Male to Maamigili, and then a 5 minute boat trip to Holiday Island. Every stage of the journey was an absolute treat! At every stage we were kept informed of arrangements and at Maamigili airport we were met by resort staff and treated like royalty.

Interestingly, Holiday Island is the only resort we have ever been to where airline staff (Captain, First Officer, cabin crew etc.) CHOOSE to stay. We saw many airline staff nominate to travel to Holiday Island to spend their off duty and relax. That should tell you everything about Holiday Island.

Holiday Island Resort and Spa is the place to go if you are looking for affordable luxury, high quality accommodation, beautiful and varied food, very high standards of service, privacy, peace, quiet, unspoilt beaches and sunny weather. It really is a fantastic place with picture postcard views and a caring staff team.

Room Tip: All rooms on the island are classed as superior and offer very comfortable, air conditioned accommod...

Holiday Island is only 17 minutes by plane from the international airport. The resort is one of the most natural around with beautiful gardens and fabulous beaches. The bar looks out on one of the most memorable views with gorgeous blue seas and a long jetty. The spa is wonderful and peaceful with gardens you can sit in after your treatment. The treatments are varied and professionally delivered. The highlight is the diving ...the dive team arrange many wonderful dives from whalesharks to mantarays and schooling mobula rays...it cant be beaten! Prices at this resort are amongst the most reasonable in the Maldives and I strongly recommend it to anyone planning to visit Maldives.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the lagoon have the best beaches.
