First trip to the Maldives and like others we researched the hotels thoroughly according to our needs.
Hotel is reached speedily on their private yacht which is exceedingly comfortable with showers on board. We were in our room within 2 and a half hours of arriving at the airport, having had a tour of the island in a golf buggy.
Stunning room/villa. Website photos are perfectly accurate.
Food at all restaurants excellent
Service provided by all staff was exceptional and nothing was too much trouble.

I have read some other reviews complaining that the hotel charge for extras. Whilst the hotel is expensive I consider it good value. We had a rate that included half board and transfers and the extras provided by the hotel are too numerous to mention.

Doctor on site.......my husband had to visit the clinic and anti biotic creams were prescribed without charge. As they said....all part of the service

Late check out was offered without asking.

My thanks to Nasih our room butler who established our needs and tailored his services accordingly and to Anastasia who checked us in on arrival. Both of these staff members would pass by regularly to see us and check that all was OK. They are an asset to the company.

I would return to the Maldives in a heartbeat .....O and O you have set the bar so high I would find it difficult to go to another hotel

Room Tip: There is not a bad room. Check the location if you want to be near the pools/restaurants/kids club

Cannot fault anything. It was incredible. The service is the best we have ever experienced. Definitely get scuba certified here. It's really good. Swim out to one of the floating islands with the sun beds on them and have them bring you a Mai tai. Amazing

Room Tip: Beach bungalows are better value in my opinion than water bungalows. Pool is also nicer

Our 15 year anniversary here could not have been any better.
The water villa was amazing, spacious, modern and lots if privacy. The resort facilities and restaurants were fantastic. The staff, especially our villa concierge, Alia, was outstanding.
We saved up for this holiday and even though it is expensive, it was worth every dollar. Just to experience the highest level of luxury and service made us feel very special and this place will always be in our hearts.
We look forward to coming back one day.

My wife and I decided to come to the Maldives on our honeymoon in July, even though its "wet season " we thought we would risk it. Overall we were very lucky with the weather. It rained only a couple of times and for a short period of time. Our stay exceeded our expectations. From the moment we got onto the One and Only luxury yacht transfer that greeted us at the airport we stepped into paradise.

We stayed in two different rooms, a water villa (that was upgraded to the grand water villa, which was one of many pleasant surprises during our stay) and a beach villa with pool. Both rooms were amazing with direct access to the beach. The rooms had all the amenities including a pillow menu. The grand villa even had itunes TV which was a nice feature to have for movie and TV show buffs.

I am used to very good service in Asia, but this is on another level. Everybody refers to you by your name and greets you with a pleasant smile each time they see you. From housekeeping to all the various culinary options at the resort the service is on the highest level possible.

I work in the food industry and I have to say that I was surprised how good the food was. Especially, Fanditha, the middle eastern restaurant was something I would recommend to everyone visiting the island. Their Japanese restaurant is amazing for people who love fusion cusines, similar to the likes of NOBU. The only thing i would try to improve is their evening
buffets at the Reetih Rah restaurant. Its overpriced for what it is, but thats just my personal opinion. Im not a big fan of buffet food in general.

The Spa is amazing and the massages my wife and I enjoyed where one of the best we ever had.

Overall, I can say that this hotel is a must for couples and families visiting the Maldives. The Beach Club offers all types of water sports and activities you can imagine. For kids there is plenty of stuff to do as well. The staff goes an extra mile in every aspect and you can be sure that every single wish of yours will be fulfilled. The only thing missing for me was kite surfing, even though it is a seasonal adventure, it would be a real bonus.

We will be back soon. Thanks for the amazing experience!!

Room Tip: Even if they dont have smth on the menu you can always ask for it and they will make it for you.

Stunning location, superb food, excellent service. Truly magical experience. Ideal location for a romantic break. Extremely difficult to provide any form of complaint or criticism. Highly recommended for a special holiday.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet cove, there are plenty on the island.

With Cathay Pacific Airline’s easier access from the Philippines, it was time to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary and fulfill a longtime dream to visit the One and Only Reethi Rah.

Being whisked away in a luxury Yacht upon arrival heightened the enthusiasm. Once checked-in at our beach villa with private pool, we were only impressed. Having a Balinese feel, it was spacious, nicely designed and well-maintained. Opening its large doors fronting the beach, one can feel the rush of ocean breeze and succumb to the lull of the waves.

On early mornings, we swam the waters in front of our villa. It was warm, clear and carpeted with fine sand. Several fish were undaunted as we played like kids. We loved the privacy. It was windy on our side of the island but it did not diminish the otherwise, peaceful surroundings. We spent afternoons watching the sun set, the white caps embracing the reefs and the blue horizon. In most evenings, we stayed at our private beach, drank wine and gazed at the stars blanketing the clear skies. It was heaven.

The variety and quality of food selection at the resort were appetizing, contrasting comments we read about so-so fare at Maldivian resorts. At the Reethi Rah Restaurant, every breakfast menu item ordered was distinct and well-presented. The meals were enhanced by the three different looks of Reethi Rah Restaurant (elements of Earth, Fire and Aqua) with its breathtaking views of the calm ocean and beaches. It was perfect.

We indulged in other restaurants - the magical hour at Fanditha, the unique fare at Japanese Teppanyaki (outdoor) and the Japanese fusion cuisine at Tapasake. We enjoyed the Epicurean dinner (hosted by Manager Mark Hehir and spouse Napha, with fine Craggy Range Wines) and Afternoon Tea at Lawn Club and Reethi Bar. The culinary selections and ingredients (sourced globally) were topnotch. It was all delightful.

The Beach Club was abuzz with waters sports, recreation center with bar and billiards, art scene, boutique, football and tennis. However, we sought the quiet vibe of the Beach and Pool near the Reethi Bar - a great alternative for a restful laze or lunch under the sun.

Visiting the Kids’ Club made us wish we brought our children. The careful attention, array of activities and exclusive facilities for junior guests are notable. The guilt made us promise to plan and bring our precious ones in the near future.

The spa environment is serene and the therapies we chose are different and well-executed. I recommend the Bamboo Joint Release Massage. It was truly relaxing.

The grounds are impeccable and the flora is smartly placed to promote privacy. The foliage is lush and nary a hint that it was partially manmade. The island is large by Maldivian standards and may require buggies (golf carts) to go around. There are bicycles assigned to every villa for a quick trek.

Unfortunately, the house reef leaves a lot to be desired. We believe it is an essential element and important attraction for the resort. Much is still to be done to enhance it. On a positive and encouraging note, the resort’s Marine Biologist stressed the resort’s commitment to reef improvement, including the protection and propagation of corals using the guest-sponsored coral frame system. We got interested in the program’s viability and chose to sponsor a frame as a legacy and reminder to our kids. We look forward to seeing growth and images in the next six months.

We enjoyed the Turtle Excursion, using the resort’s own Dhoni. We were able to visit two reefs and chanced upon the endangered hawksbilled turtle, feeding and swimming calmly, as if floating on air. Our guides were helpful during snorkelling and savored the bento light meals on the boat. This activity is a must.

We want to praise the Staff - the working people who give spirit and made our experience truly memorable. They created the environment and chance to live the moment. We celebrated our anniversary like we were with family. To name a few, there were the surprise romantic table set-up at the Reethi Rah Restaurant, the passionate cooking at Teppanyaki, the impromptu ‘private’ lunch at the dive platform in the middle of the sea. The place, personal encounters and attention make you want to come back again and again.

On a side note, we were initially curious about the rates charged by Maldivian luxury resorts. After a few days at One and Only, we somewhat understand why. We're not trying to justify anything here but note that almost all things in the resort are imported. In terms of food, high quality and wide variety are expected at any high-end resort but the logistics of shipping it to these far away islands are a challenge. Also, the size of the resort requires about a thousand personnel and professionals to run it, maintain it and give a great guest experience we all hope for.

We commend Mark Hehir’s leadership to instill a culture that creates an emotional connection with guests.

Our One and Only stay is now a memory. But, the experience will forever inspire us.

Room Tip: The sunset side was windy when we visited but swimming was still very good. Water visibility was cle...

First of all , we spent a lot of time researching where to go. In the end there is no doubt we got the choice right and had an amazing stay starting off with an fabulous ride in a luxury yacht all to ourselves after a fraught trip through Sri Lanka so it was nice to sit up top with the wind in our hair and be whisked away to paradise.

We had a water villa which was beautiful, we took the complimentary bikes and loved our 5 min cycle to various restaurants and breakfast. Swimming in the lagoon I saw Sting Ray, reef sharks (harmless), octopus, blow fish, eels and so many wonderful fish. There was no need to leave the villa other than to eat and there lies the one gripe we had and the reason for 4 star rating. It's one of the top class resorts and it's a fact that you are going to pay premium prices for your meals, that's fine but sometimes you just want a sandwich or a small snack without having to have the whole performance of a $100 meal / service. There is room service but I'm never a fan of eating lukewarm food. I suppose it's impossible as a business model but I wish there was a shop where you could just pick up something simple to eat during the day.

In the end for 7 nights with a couple of massages, a swimming with turtle trip (amazing), some shopping!, a meal at every restaurant with their $80 per head supplement for half board we spent around £1,500 on top of our room charge so be prepared for this so it doesn't surprise you. Mind you we had a bottle of wine with every meal and some cocktails. :-).

Note you can't walk on the beaches as they are private for guests with a beach villa still you get a good opportunity to take photos of deserted white sands.

We also had a disappointing trip to the spa but this was probably a one off and I only mention it because the effort the hotel put in to placate us was very impressive. You really feel they want you to have a relaxing and amazing stay.

Overall I'd say you won't go wrong staying here it wasn't full but it wasn't empty but still is was quiet everywhere, the island is big enough for you all to disappear other than when you don't want to when you can go to the main beach area / bar. The water villas are wonderful so I'd recommend you upgrade to one of these, the views are too amazing to miss!

Room Tip: Villa 168 is wonderful.
