“Get spoiled in Maldives”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 December 2012

We traveled in 2009, end of April for 2 weeks.

Everything is very well organized. From airport arrival through to your first drinks, diners, the pool and ... the surf.

Many activities if you like water sports:
-private snorkling in the lagoon around the island
-scuba around the island or by boat
-surfing on the islands left hand point break, epic!
-surfing on nearby breaks by boat

Food catering:
Excellent with many daily changing options.
Staff very helpful and polite.

Room Tip: All housing is great and has enough space to walk around. Rooms are cleaned daily. We had a beach b...

we had a beach villa overlooking a tropical lagoon with an average depth of 1m which is teaming with fish. If you want a quiet beach holiday with great snorkling then this is the place. You are allocated a table & waiter for the duration at your first meal - great idea, works well. Dining is good without being great. Sunset restaurant is excellent 4 courses $70 (drinks are all inclusive).
Downsides - Bring mossie repellant. - Lock yor money in the room safe (some went missing from my pockets) - rooms 215 - 227 are very close to a deisel generator it would drive me nuts.

Accommodation (beach huts) - quite spacious with an outside bathroom and shower. Clean but our neighbours had a rat in their bathroom on once occasion and another couple that we met had to have their matress replaced due to bed bugs. Our air con leaked whilst we we there but this was quickly repaired. We went to see the Ocean Vills whilst there and these were an extra $200 per night but certainly not worth this and you still had to eat in the same restaurant.
Food - buffet style served 3x per day. Spicy food in abundance, whilst there was alot of food on offer nothing really went together as a meal. Waiter service was fantastic. Wine only available in the restaurant and not in the bars - nor were cocktails - and we thought this was an all inclusive holiday! It was more like full board. Due to the fact that this island attracts surfers the restaurant and bar could get quite rowdy at times, not suitable for families.
Beach - clean, water was warm and very clear, great for snorkelling with sting rays and reef sharks always about and plenty of fish to see, loads of crabs on the beach. One side of the Island gets the sun in the morning and the other side is sunny in the afternoon - quite alot of shade available on the beaches with palm trees. Constant drone of the islands genrator on the south east side where we stayed, this is annoying and sort of spoils the tranquility. You also cannot walk the perimeter of the island as it is blocked off on the South end for staff quarters. Sun rises early at 6am and sets at 6.30pm, suggest you take a torch as the paths to the main restaurant can be quite dark.
Activities - not included in your all inclusive holiday. Expensive for what they are, we did the snorkelling trip that costed us $55 (includes the 10% surcharge that they add onto all activities/trips/massages). We had a chinese massage whilst there and this was alot better value for money than the coconut spa. Chinese massage highly reccommended.
Reps - we went with Thomas Cook and did not see a rep for the entire 2 weeks we were there although we did get occasional correspondance through the door from the hotel management.
Overall we were disappointed with this island, it certainly was not the island paradise we expected it be be or were led to believe by the tour operator. We spoke to others on the return trip who paid less and appeared to get a much better island and accommodation.
