“Amazing Cabin!!”
Reviewed 22 February 2014

We have just today returned from staying here for a week, there were 6 adults and one child aged 5. We could not have asked for more, from the start of the process talking to viktoria who was amazingly helpful and answered the simple of questions, even down to the week before, asking if there was any snow (which there is)!! she emailed us photos! not many places would go to that length! From the moment we got there Henry was so helpful, picked us up from the airport and ferried us into Tromso for day trips when we needed and was our night time caller if the lights were there to greet us! Out of the 7 nights we were there, it was only two nights we did not see the lights! even through the clouds this is an amazing place to stay. You do not need stand out in the cold all night and wait, from the comfort of the living room you can keep your eye on the sky above. The cabin was perfect for us all with plenty of space. I cannot recommend this place enough and we will certainly be looking to return! Thank you very much to Henry and Viktoria for making our first trip to Norway a magical one!

If you're after peace & quiet & scenes of beauty then look no further. We stayed in the small cosy cottage for 4 nights in Oct 2012 & proposed to my now wife. The owner Henry couldnt do enough for us. Airport transfers, trip to the supermarket, even told us the best night to see the lights. Just a short walk from our cabin. I loved this cabin & cant wait to return. Thank you so much for having us.

We hired cottage #1 for four days then the large cabin (#4?) for a further four days with friends. They were both the most wonderful paces to stay. They are warm, very comfortable, spacious, and delightful, and Henry is the most warm, hospitable and generous host. They accommodation is reasonably priced and the cabins are fully equipped with everything you need, although we never did manage to get the DVD to work. This is a great base to watch the Northern Lights, although we never saw them, and Henry will take you into the mountains to see them if he can. Despite the disappointment of not seeing the lights we had a wonderful holiday here, catching the bus into town and having coffee at the little cafe within a short walking distance.

We stayed in cabin number 4 with my parents. It's in a beautiful location and excellent facilities in the cabin. We saw the Northern Lights from our balcony but a short walk onto the peninsula near the harbour gives even better views of the lights over the mountains. This is one of the photos I took from the peninsula http://www.blipfoto.com/entry/3953105

We had a tremendous stay. Viktoria was super organised with communication beforehand and Henry was a superstar ferrying us to & from the airport, into Tromso and to the dog sledding centre.

I could live here and would thoroughly recommend it for a beautiful getaway with good chances of seeing the Northern Lights from your home.

We visited the Tromso tourist office and booked the northern lights trip to Ersfjorden on Monday 27 January. Henry picked us up at the tourist office at 17.30. There were just the 2 of us and he only caters for small groups on this trip. We drove out of Tromso and headed to the fjord. Took about 30 mins and when we arrived, wow, so many stars! Henry runs several holiday chalets and we were able to use his nice warm office as a base. He had laid on bread, cheese, smoked salmon, tea ,coffee and fresh fruit for us. He was keeping an eye on a geo-magnetic website monitoring aurora activity and was sure it was on the way. We watched and waited. For hours. Then at about 22.30 the aurora arrived and treated us to a fantastic show of swirling green and white lights for about 45 minutes. Then it was gone and Henry drive us back to our hotel. It was absolutely fantastic. So much so that we went back again tonight! Just 3 of us this time and Henry was sure we would see the lights again. There were some good bursts on and off from about 18.00 and from just before 23.00 we got another amazing display of lights for about a half hour. Beautiful dancing white lights. We watched it with 4 Chinese girls staying in the chalet and their enthusiasm was infectious. Henry's photographer friend took amazing pictures of us all and promised to e-mail them to us. Unbelievable trip. If you just want to see the lights with no mucking about, do this. It was very good value for money. Henry was extremely charming and hospitable and took very good care of us!

I booked this as a suprise trip just for me and my husband. We had been to Norway before but we really wanted to see the Northern lights and experience the arctic conditions. Henry picked us up from the airport, as planned, and took us back to the cabin via a supermarket. We were gald that we had got some food in because once we arrived we did not want to leave the cabin. We were lucky to have cabin 5 which is at the village end of the fjord, 20 feet from the water. The cabin was spotlessly clean and well stocked and the electric heating, in the living area, kept us very warm and cosy. We used the main bedroom downstairs which was kept warm with underfloor heating, as was the bathroom. We walked around the village at least once a day, visited the lovely cafe, watched fish and star fish in the clear water of the fjord. The rest of the time we just sat watching the incredible view from the living room. I cannot remember ever being so relaxed and at peace as I was in this cabin. Our only problem was staying asleep at night as we were determined to catch sight of the aurora. On our last full day Henry told us that the lights would probably come at around 1am. We stayed up and he was right! At 5 minutes to 1, dressed in pyjamas, 2 pairs of socks, 2 pairs of gloves, scarf, hat and winter coat, I stood on the deck and watched the green lights appear. They were dancing in the sky for 2 hours, not as strongly as some people might have experienced, but they were the most wonderful thing we have ever seen and this cabin was the perfect place to view them from. As for Henry, he is quite righlty a bit of a legend, lovely and cheerful and friendly and very prompt.

Reviewed 26 December 2013

A group of 6 of us stayed at Cabin 2 for 3 nights in December 2013 and we had a fantastic experience.

The cabin overlooks a fjord and we enjoyed breathtaking views. In the mornings, we were able to catch glimpses of whales in the fjords. And at night, we were able to watch the northern lights right at our doorstep. This saved us a lot of money from northern lights tours and we were able to enjoy it in a more comfortable setting. The cabin is situated away from the hustle and bustle of the city so it is very peaceful, quiet and serene. That being said, it is just around a half an hour drive from the city centre and around a 20min drive from the airport, so it is still in a very convenient location.

The interior of the cabin is very spacious, clean and comfortable and there is very good heating. The kitchen is also well equipped with the basic cooking equipment (e.g. pots, frying pans, oven, electric kettle, dishwasher, etc) and utensils. Towels were also provided.

Transport was also not a problem. Our host, Henry, generously provided us with 2-way transport to the airport, to and from our winter activities as well as to the nearby bus stop when we wanted to visit Tromso city centre, for only a total of 100NOK per person. He was always very punctual and reliable.

Lastly, a big thank you to Henry. He was very friendly and patient and always went the extra mile, be it helping us to book our dog-sledding tour or calling us when the northern lights and whales could be seen, to make our visit a truly pleasant and enjoyable one.
