“Warm welcome, excellent accommodation and Rhoda's cakes!!!”
Reviewed 5 July 2015 for a stay in June 2015

Despite our late evening arrival we received a warm and friendly welcome from Rhoda and Neal. The chalet is warm, comfortable, inviting and well equipped.
There was a pleasant surprise in the fridge of salmon, both fresh and smoked! Rhoda produced treats from time to time with home baked cakes and other delights from the sea.
We stayed for a fortnight during which the weather was it's usual variable self. We enjoyed days of hillwalking with no shortage of stunning views and wildlife. The beaches are very clean with wonderful white sand and you often have it to yourself. Road traffic is minimal and everyone waves as they pass. Stornoway is only about 30 mins away and we can recommend the food at the "An Lanntair" arts complex. They have a gluten free menu if you ask.

When we return to Lewis we would not think of staying anywhere else than Kabius.

“excellent, comfortable, hospitable”
Reviewed 9 June 2015 for a stay in May 2015

First time on the Outer Hebrides and Rhoda made me very welcome, easy to find and then, salmon fillet in the fridge, smoked salmon and oatcakes, big bowl of fresh fruit, fresh flowers and a homemade loaf/cake...later in the week more homemade cake! The chalet is comfortable even on your own and with good kitchen, bathroom with plenty of big towels, very comfortable double bed, TV and DVD also WiFi.
You pay extra for the electric which is the heating and cooking, and that's not a problem, I had the heater on most of the time as it was very windy and a bit chilly at night but inside it was fine. Very relaxing...and Rhoda was very kind in emailing to compliment me on the way I'd left the chalet..

“Our best ever holiday let!”
Reviewed 17 October 2014 for a stay in September 2014

Our week in Kabuis was an absolute joy. Neil and Rhoda's hospitality went way beyond our expectations - where else would your hosts supply full car washing kit and invite you in for a glass of wine and a chat, not to mention the flowers, fruit , salmon and home made cakes?
Our week on Lewis was fantastic - sunshine, blue skies, swimming on white sand beaches, hillwalking with spectacular views out to St Kilda, and wildlife spotting - everything we could have wished for and then the superbly equipped and comfortable chalet to return to.
After a great holiday, we always vow never to return to the same place....but in the case of Kabuis & Lewis, I think that we'll be making an exception!
A heartfelt thanks to Neil & Rhoda for their hospitality and a wonderful week.

Management Response
13 Sep 2014
It was great to read your review and better still to know that despite several visits to Lewis, that that Chalet for you has come up tops. You will be welcomed back to Shawbost any time of the year.
Sincere thanks
Rhoda & Neil

“A gem of a find - couldn't be better”
Reviewed 3 September 2014 for a stay in August 2014

I went seeking peace, quiet, tranquility. Got that and more. Wonderful location. Amazing welcome from Rhoda. Kabuis Chalet is beautiful, warm, and well equipped - everything you could want and more. Magical from the meet you, welcoming fruit, salmon, cake onwards
Fascinating to know you're staying in a place whose owners have such long and deep connection to this land - read the articles thoughtfully provided.
On another front it's a great location - central to much yet walks, sea/skyscrapes on the doorstep

“A fantastic Holiday Experience”

On arrival at our holiday destination we were warmly greeted by Rhoda and Neil with a cup of tea, some delicious home baking and a nice chat about the surrounding area. We immediately felt at home . On top of it all we got fresh and smoked salmon, fruit, flowers and another banana loaf for us to eat. The chalet has all the comfort you need and we found it very comfortable and cosy.
Cycling around the island is a wonderful experience as there is hardly any traffic and most car drivers are considerate of cyclists.
The Kabuis is also a good base to explore the island ,
Unfortunately at the end of the week my husband did something to his back and immediately Rhoda and Neil provided all the medication needed, which was so helpful.
After a day's cycling, recommended by Rhoda we sometimes ordered delicious food from 40 North as well as their tasty homemade bread.
All by all, also thanks to Rhoda and Neil we had a great time in Lewis at the Kabuis and hope to be back next year.
