Spent a few days looking for a nice hotel on the waterfront as a base to explore the south end of Hood Canal. Found the Waterfront and chose it based on the the reviews and photos on their website that appeared to have a great view of the water, which we wanted. We booked the King Suite based on the description of waterfront as well as the photo showing water off the deck. When we arrived, surprised that half the view was blocked by RVs. Manager was very accommodating and willing to move us to a cabin for the 2 nights, but it's view was even worse, plus bed was too close to HWY 101. Ended up back in the original room. Room was very clean and bed comfortable, some noise from the traffic on Hwy 101. Deck would have been a lot nicer to sit on if we didn't have the RVs right in front. The RV parked right in front was worse as they ran their AC all night and day, so quite irritating.

Restaurants and stores are a couple of miles away in Hoodsport and access to Lake Cushman a short drive. Beach was nice, although it is mostly barnacle covered rocks with the south edge the discharge river from the powerplant. Very clear and clean. Overall a good value for the price with nice management, but wouldn't stay here again myself.

I'm sorry to hear that you were not satisfied with the view from your room. All of our rooms have a view. The best views are upstairs in the main building. Rooms 23 - 26. Our beach is a shellfish beach covered with oysters and clams. Many of our guests enjoy harvesting the shell fish and cooking it fresh right here using our gas grills and boiling pots. If you are looking for a "sandy beach", I suggest the coast. Hood Canal is all about seafood and shellfish harvesting. :-)

I would have paid more than $99 dollars a day. Lots of space in the room to make it comfortable stay. View from the private deck was great. It was very quite all night compare to other hotels that I have stayed in, thank you to their rules. I will stay there again.

We must have sat on the balcony till midnight enjoying the beauty. Nice clean rooms with a fridge and a microwave oven. Small hotel in a small town. IGA about 2 miles away so easy to get food , vine/beer. Would have loved to stay more but had to get back to work. Will return soon.

Room Tip: Views from the second floor are great

Waterfront at Potlatch is a very small hotel and RV park right on the water. We enjoyed the sunset and sunrise from our private deck. The room was comfortable. The hosts were friendly and accommodating. All this for $99!

I recently spent a week at The Waterfront at Potlatch. I needed a time out from the business of life, hoping for a quiet, relaxing respite. The Waterfront at Potlatch fit the bill perfectly. What a wonderful resort. I found it completely perfect in every way. The owners, Annette and Bob, are very kind and helpful, extremely hospitable and anxious to make your stay a good one, while also respecting your privacy when you need it. As far as the accommodations and amenities, I have no complaint whatsoever. I stayed in a King Suite that was very roomy and extremely comfortable. It lacked for nothing. The bathroom is large with good vanity space, combo tub and shower also large. The refrigerator and microwave were medium size - not the tiny ones you find in some hotels. Plenty of comfortable spaces all around, couch for lounging while reading or watching TV, or table and chairs for eating or working on the laptop. The best spot was the balcony - privately enclosed from neighboring guests, nice table and chairs (not those flimsy plastic ones), and a view that was beautiful. Everything is kept very clean, the property is well maintained. The cabins are gorgeous, and even though the cabins, rooms, and RV pads are quite close together, there is still a feeling of space and privacy. There is a community room available to all guests, with big fridge, ice machine, cooking appliances, dishes, games, puzzles and books available for exchange. And of course, the canal is right in front. Many good places to walk with parks close by. The rates are reasonable (good rates in off season). I loved my stay. I hated to leave. The Waterfront at Potlatch may not be a big resort.... and that's exactly what I liked about it. Intimate, cozy, with great attention to detail - not a huge sprawling property with overbloated prices. I will definitely be back.

We stayed two nights in one of the cabins with our two adult daughters in July 2011. The cabin is a park model trailer and it was confortable and clean. The kitchen had everything that you could want to use for fixing small meals. Even though the highway is very close to the cabin we didn't hear much noise during the night. There is a creek next to the cabin that gurgles very plesently and drowns out a lot of the most road noise.
