It's rare these days to visit a country pub that feels like a local's regular haunt, yet that's exactly what you get when you visit The Royal Oak at Fritham, tucked away as it is in a secluded corner of the New Forest. You need to know its there to discover it as it at the end of a no through road and surrounded by some great walking country. Simple, wholesome fare, inexpensive and delicious, that's what you'll find on the menu. If you're after chips with everything though you'll be sadly disappointed. It's small too, so don't be unduly disappointed if there's "no room at the inn" when you turn up. It's a popular destination with locals and visitors alike, but there is only so much space to accommodate diners. Don't be downhearted, just make plans to return another time!
