“wonderfully spacious tranquil house”
Reviewed 26 August 2017 for a stay in August 2017

This lovely house and grounds filled all our criteria: enough space for 3 generations to coexist in great comfort, very peaceful rural location, straightforward journey from Calais, lots of activity provided for smallish children, and a great pool. We would agree with a previous reviewer that the photos do not do the place justice. We did also use Jeanette's father's cottage across the front yard for extra sleeping space. The trampoline, bicycles and ping pong table were a boon in our week's mainly poor weather, and reduced the need to go far afield for distraction. But the high spot of the children's week was an outing to Rouffiac where there is a lake, a particularly good and well run AccroPark, and many other activities. There is also quite a good family restaurant there.

Jeanette was very welcoming, very helpful and provided us with restaurant recommendations and detailed hiking maps of the area.

“Beautiful relaxing holiday house”
Reviewed 2 July 2017 for a stay in June 2017

We stayed at Jeanette her house in June, it is a beautiful house on a quiet location. (it's even better than the pictures!) The pool is a nice feature and wonderful to take a dive in on a hot summer day or just to relax in on an air mattress as it is surrounded with lavender. We would definitely come again in the future.

“A beautiful family home provided the perfect setting for a fabulous holiday”
Reviewed 27 August 2016 for a stay in July 2016

Le Marronier is a home with all home comforts. This sensitively restored 18C farm complex, of beautiful cream sandstone and oak, brings the traditional period buildings into the 21C, with some delightfully modern touches.
It was the perfect spacious venue for a grandmother, her children and grandchildren.
Catering was easy, as the kitchen was well equipped with a range, and a large barbeque on the veranda for eating out.
The property had many facilities for activities to suit every member of the family-badminton, table tennis, trampoline, well maintained mountain bikes, pool and comfortable sun loungers.
Le Marronnier stands on its own, with no visible neighbours, yet is within a few kilometres of many places of interests and sports.
We all found it fabulous and commend the owner.

“Fabulously relaxing countryside holiday”
Reviewed 24 August 2016 for a stay in May 2016

We stayed at le Marronier for the second year in a row and it was just as wonderful as we remembered it. It is a fantastic location and the surrounding towns and villages are very picturesque. We relaxed immediately as Jeannette is so welcoming it feels like a home from home. The house is beautiful and spotlessly clean. The garden is lovely and the kids love the trampoline and swings. The pool area is great as there is so much room with the loungers and seating area next to it where we loved having breakfast. My husband is a keen trail runner and he really enjoys the nearby trails especially with Jeannette's helpful guides. It is so peaceful at Le Marronnier we would definitely
recommend staying if you want a peaceful retreat in
the countryside.

“Beautiful functional home in quiet rural setting”
Reviewed 21 July 2016 for a stay in June 2016

This home is in a quiet hamlet in the Perigeux region.
The house is beautifully renovated and tastefully decorated with every convenience provided. In contrast to some other houses we have rented, the Marrionnier was equipped with the guest's needs in mind, it is not just someone's home that you are renting. (Ping pong table, bikes, badminton net etc)
The property is beautiful with ivy coloured stone walls and ancient looking buildings.
There is no panoramic vista, but the view is still very interesting.
The upside of the location is the quiet rural feel. The downside is that it is a longish drive to the main tourist sites to the South (Sarlat, Rocamadour, Beaulieu etc)
Overall an excellent property that we would rent again.

“Peace and Tranquility”
Reviewed 25 August 2015 for a stay in August 2015

We have just got home from 2wks at Le Marronnier and had an amazing time. Jeanette was a very welcoming host and helpful throughout, from booking right through to tips on best places to visit/eat.The Barn felt like a home from home, beautifully furnished in a rustic chic to suit the character of the building.... the photos don't do it justice.
The Barn was well equipped with all we could want including UK Freeview TV.
Barn has swing set, trampoline, badminton, table tennis and a selection of bikes in addition to the pool. The location a lovely rural hamlet with local walks....my kids had a great time spotting all sorts of wildlife, including a young deer that would visit the garden some evenings.
The pool was great, surrounded by the fragrance of lavender, and was kept very clean and being heated was always at a lovely temp for swimming, even on the cooler days. Whilst off the beaten track we found we were never too far away from attractions in the Region and would recommend Branthome/kayaking as a fab family day out. Periguex was about 25mins away with shopping/museums/restaurants.
If you want a relaxing holiday in the beautiful Dordogne, then I would highly recommend this place. We spent many great days relaxing by the pool, picking fresh tomatoes, raspberries and peaches from the garden to eat with our lunch under the gazebo....idyllic. If I were to think of any feedback, we couldnt find any outside lighting if you wanted to be outside after dark?.....but we are already looking to rebook for next summer...so I guess enough said!

“A fantastic house”
Reviewed 20 August 2015 for a stay in August 2015

This was the perfect house to spend our summer holiday. It is set is set back from the road down a small lane and so is incredibly peaceful. The house catered brilliantly for our group of twelve. It was clean and extremely well equipped. The pool, though smallish, is surrounded by lavender and thyme which is just beautiful and smells amazing. There are comfortable sun loungers for relaxing while watching the kids in the pool. They were in heaven and so were we. There is plenty of space for children (and adults) to play - a large field with two trampolines, table tennis and swings. There were great footpaths close by for walkers and runners and lovely old villages and towns within easy reach. We would happily come back again.
