Treforgan WI visited last Monday for a guided tour of the Chinaworks - we enjoyed coffee and welsh cakes beforehand and then had a really good talk and PowerPoint demonstration from Charles Fountain before being shown around by June .
She was a very knowledgeable volunteer- great fun too.
Best £5 I've spent in a long time .
Certainly recommend a visit .

Discovery of a GEM... Nantgarw China Works Museum
Review of Nantgarw China Works Museum
Reviewed 2 days ago
Discovery of a REAL GEM, so close to Home.... Nantgarw China Works Museum.....

I vaguely have known of it it's existed and history about the China Works at Nantgarw, but for some reasons, have never taken the time to visited.

Some months ago I saw an advertisement on Facebook about a free Valuation Open Day at the Museum. Advertising that you were welcome to take along an item (s) that you would like to have valued. I liked their page and have been following the China Work since then... Discovering that they hold many interesting events, workshops, talks, for a reasonable fee....

Mentioning this to my friends we visited yesterday, for coffee, and enjoyable catch in their "cosy" tea room.... Made very welcome, no rush, once our refreshments was served we were left to enjoy, our catch up.

We took the tour of the China Works and discovered a Real Gem. The history of the Works, beautifully re-told by the Director, Charles Fountain there on the day... He was so knowledgeable and answered our many questions. The display of china was very well presented and the history seen in the many amazing interesting old photographs.

They have some exiting plans for 2019, including planning a major Exhibition of Nantgarw Porcelain next year..... With plans to develop part of the old water canal....Watch their Facebook page for this and for future events, classes, workshops and updates.

If you like history, want a few hours spent enjoying the china, displays...Have a cup of coffee, tea....or have visitors wanting to see something special and different. I would be very surprise if they or you, didn't enjoy your visit.

It might be a small Museum in size, but big on local History... clever displays and well thought out presentation.

Take time to visit, you won't be disappointment... There is I understand more coming in 2019, in the way of classes, events... So my advise is join their web-page, follow them on Facebook...... and support their dedicated team of staff and volunteers.

Suitable for those interested in their local history, can appreciate the workmanship of beautifully crafted china, designs, old photographs....Adults, teenagers, students, your visitors from a way. or a trip down memory lane......Show less

Went to the China works today and was greeted by June who was lovely and who made us feel very welcome.
Mike who did our tour was very knowledgeable and very informative.
All rounded off with a freshly made coffee.
If your passing and have a spare hours I’d recommend it.

I spent over an hour here having a tour. The guide was extremely knowledgeable. I’m not especially interested in china or pottery but I still found it fascinating! Really worth a visit, and great value seeing as it’s free. Didn’t have time to stop for a drink or cake in the tea room, but it had very reasonable prices (think it was £1.50 for tea & a welsh cake).
