“A place to keep coming back to”
Reviewed 3 July 2016 for a stay in June 2016

My wife and I stayed at 'The Bothy' in 2014 but unfortunately missed out in 2015. We have every intention in returning in 2017. It is ideally placed for our 'Annual Hadrian's Wall Inspection'. It would be extremely helpful if the National Grid Reference (NGR) was added to the literature.

“A well-equipped cottage set in the heart of Northumbria”

The Bothy is a clean, comfortable, well-equipped cottage set in the heart of Northumbria. We found it ideally located for exploring the rolling countryside, visiting local stately homes and castles and walking in the Kielder forest. Even the picturesque coastal scenery was less than an hour away. It's perfect for couples who want to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. We really look forward to our next visit!

“Beautiful location and property”
Reviewed 21 April 2016 for a stay in April 2016

The property is ideal for a long weekend or longer stay as it is very comfortable and has everything you are likely to need during your stay. The kitchen is very well equipped so staying in and cooking is fine. Everywhere is spotlessly clean. The living room is comfortable and again has everything you could need to spend time watching TV, reading or listening to music but you will probably be distracted by the birds in the garden including a woodpecker. At night you can hear owls nearby hooting.

We didn't have the weather the sit outside but it would have been a pleasant place to spend time and enjoy the location. The area is dark at night making it great for stargazing.

Nothing to do with the property but be aware that some of the local historic sites and houses could be closed on Monday and Tuesdays - if you are staying for an extended weekend check the opening times of properties so you can plan your visits.

Overall we had a great three night and would definitely plan to stay again if we were in the area. You don't need a shortlist just choose The Bothy!

We had a lovely 4 night stay at The Bothy at the end of March. We originally booked to stay 3 nights but had such a good time that we decided to book in for another night. The Bothy had everything we needed and is set in a great location for exploring the surrounding area. Keith and Christine were lovely hosts and made us feel very welcome. Great place to take your dog also. Can't wait to return :)

“Wonderfully cozy cottage”

Fantastic short break at The Bothy. The cottage is very well equipped, clean with lovely views across the countryside. Really cozy with the fire on too. We would definitely recommended to our family and friends.

“Superb Cottage”
Reviewed 23 January 2016 for a stay in January 2016

We have just stayed three nights (19 - 22 Jan) at the cottage and what a pleasure it was. Christine and Keith the owners were very welcoming, there cottage is as it says comfortable, well equipped and the views are lovely and in a peaceful setting. When we arrived the heating was on so it was nice and warm and there was a bottle of wine left for us which was a lovely touch. We were in the garden quite a bit as we took our two little dogs with us, too cold to sit out but I would imagine in the Spring it will be glorious, lots of bird feeders therefore lots of different birds, Thank you for your hospitality and allowing us to stay in your lovely cottage.
