You see this place and you are mesmerized by its beauty. Then you meet Barbara and you know that you are in the best place to be. beautifully designed and clean rooms, with a nice simple breakfast. It's better to go by car if u want to c the lake but if not, it's a nice walk between the little farms to get to the main road. Will definitely visit again!

We booked this location in July, 2013, for our first stay in Italy on our 10th anniversary vacation, based on a recommendation by friends who stayed there 10 years ago. It was wonderful. We stayed for 5 nights, using this as a base to explore Siena, Florence, and Chianti. Barbara, the owner, is very friendly and helpful. She helped us book a tour of the Uffizi in Florence. The continental breakfast is simple, but hearty. There is a nice small swimming pool to cool off in. WiFi is available, but did not reach to our bedroom. There is no air conditioning, but we found the room reasonably cool in the evening. The surrounding country side is stunning. Rosia is a small old medieval village.

What a peaceful, beautiful and idyllic place! If you're looking to relax and unwind there is no place better! It's so rustic and yet you feel as if you're right at home. We expected it to be closer to Siena but the 15-20 min drive wasn't too bad. I would have no hesitation to book here again! The owner is so lovely and friendly and the breakfast was nice as well. The only thing I regret was not booking here longer!

We spent 6 nights here and loved the place very much. It is handily situated less than half an hour from wonderful Siena. Though we are around 70 owner Barbara put us humorously in the "Lovers Room" with a large four poster bed. The farmhouse is full of interesting furniture and old agricultural implements + her own pictures and ceramics. We were most fortunate in having Hendrix cook a delicious evening meal - much better than the nearby restaurant, though they did try hard. Though the weather was never hot I did get wet twice in the waist deep pool. Il Colombaio is part of a small medieval hamlet in which is an ancient church. As with most of these hilltop villages it is immaculate with many flowers and very narrow lanes.
Apart from exploring the always fascinating Siena - suggest you park in the S Marco underground car park - most days we drove around 60 miles to see Volterra - our favourite - San Gimigniano, inevitably - Pienza, Castellinia in Chianti, Chiusdino and San Galgano. The roads were surprisingly empty but beware of the numerous speed cameras, Carabineri, Polizei and where you park (we got stung for €43).
Barbara is most kind and helpful and is fluent in English, French and probably others. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: All wonderful
