“Consistently good, inexpensive food for six years”

We have eaten here for six years and keep coming back every time we visit Costa Rica. The menu has changed very little over the years, even though the restaurant has had three owners. There are four selections on the menu: tuna, mahi mahi, chicken, and pork. They're all good, but the fish are my favorites. The tuna is crusted with sesame seeds, is served with a soy-wasabi sauce, and can be ordered as rare as you like it. The mahi mahi comes grilled or blackened, and is always perfectly cooked. Both kinds of fish were guaranteed caught the same day. The sides of mashed potatoes and vegetables are perfect. The key lime pie desert with blackberries is tasty, even though it's frozen. Phillip and his wife are friendly, gracious hosts and they remember us year after year. The prices went up this year from $13 a plate to $14 -- first price increase in six years! Still a bargain -- the portions are huge.

Be aware that the restaurant is cash only and BYOB, though I think he serves Imperial beer now.

Just came back from Hermosa, and I must have eaten here at least five times in 6 days--the food is that good! I have been going here since 2006, and even though the ownership has change, the food has not and is still excellent! The new owner Phillip and the staff are great, very friendly! I highly recommend eating here if you are traveling to Playa Hermosa or Jaco; everything on the menu is great-- especially the tuna!!!!

We stayed down the street at the sandpiper inn and it was recommended by staff there to try the food here. We came for lunch and had fish tacos which were excellent. For dinner, we had the tuna steak and the mahi mahi. They were both so good. Highly recommend!!

We stayed within walking distance at a beach hotel & this was our "go-to" place for the best Tico breakfasts and the most delicious tuna steak on the planet! We met many other travelers there who actually drive ove 30 minutes just to have the fresh seafood.
