The rooms are in a poor condition, and in need of decoration ASAP.
The food is very good, with prompt service and a varied menu including very good Indian dishes.
I was there on that godforsaken island for a week. A whole week on that desperate island. The staff did their best to make this journey tolerable. They succeeded.
I recommend the dish called "The Winston Churchill". It's a good steak stuffed with a good Blue cheese. The whole thing is wrapped in bacon. It's awesome. I could only eat half of mine.
This place is on a par with an American Motel. You can park cars outside the rooms.

Room Tip: The rooms are clean if scabby.

The Abbey Hotel in my view is the perfect Hotel in this area.
The rooms are clean and warm with lashings of hot water.
I have been using this hotel virtually every week for the lst 22 years with no complaint.
This hotels restaurant has both English and Indian chefs and everything on their menue is freshly prepared (Not boil in the bag) like most hotels.
If this was not a good hotel i would not use it.
All of the staff are most helpful and always willing to please.
Parking is free and not a problem as there is plenty of space.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a bath as some only have a shower

Stayed with a large group for a cycling event at this hotel in midsummer 2013. The staff were very friendly, professional and efficient when dealing with the logistics of our group booking, including some of our un-usual requests! The food requested was excellent, service superb, and the rooms adequate for our needs. Would book again in future, as the location is convenient for our event.

From the outside the hotel looks lovely, and you are able to park outside your room which gives you easy access to unload and load your belongings.
However the room I had the displeasure of staying in was dated and in need of refurb. The beds were extremely uncomfortable and clearly needed new mattresses. The shower, although looked like a shower only produced a few sprays of water that only seemed to drench the floor.
After a fun night out, we returned to the room, to not only hear the wedding entertainment at full blast in our room, but had no sleep due to the people either side talking through the night with TVs on. The walls to both other rooms and the outside are so thin that had I not been drinking in the evening I would have driven to anywhere for a nights sleep.
