The hotel is right on the road from Yangon so the bus will drop you off right at the door. The staff will call the bus station to ask them to pick you up too. It is also very close to the place where you board the truck for The Golden Rock.. After a long bus ride from Yangon, a harrowing trip in a crowded truck up to mountain to the Golden Rock, then a barefoot walk over hot tiles to the Rock, it was heaven to come back to the cool, lovely room at the Golden Sunrise and enjoy a delicious dinner.

Wow! i really loved Golden Sunrise! A calm, beautiful and relaxing oasis for a visit to Golden Rock. The grounds are thoughtfully manicured with atmospheric lighting in the nighttime. The room I had was an upstairs room which i appreciated so i could see out to the distant range of hills/mountain (room #8). Balcony very nice but I didn't sit there much since I preferred indoor my room for AC since quite hot.
AC, hot water, tv w/good english channels, bed, linens, everything quite amazing! well thought through...all needs met. there was even a mini fridge with a minibar...some drinks inside. no price list of the minibar items though...

the only thing i can think of is that you should not plan to rely on the wifi. even if you are right in the lobby it is so slow don't even bother. if you get a sim card for myanmar then it is quite fast here (at least Telenor is strong signal and fast).

Restaurant is fantastic. I ate lunch, dinner and breakfast here. All good.
Do not skip the breakfast. Maybe you want to be up at the golden rock to watch the sunrise. i say don't worry about it. get seated for breakfast at 7 and head up there at 7:30am...i got up to the rock by 8 or 8:30 and the lighting on the rock and surrounds is quite perfect. when i saw lots of foreign travelers heading down while i was heading up to the rock i thought maybe i had made a mistake. well...i didn't...because it would have been a mistake to miss the wonderful breakfast that comes at Golden Sunrise Hotel! Real coffee! yes!
Also...i will say this: you may also be considering staying at one of the expensive hotels located right up top of Mt Kyaikto next to the rock. I didn't find them to be all too atmospheric actually. I felt very happy in retrospect to have stayed down the hill in Kinpun at Golden Sunrise!

Also, a tip for when you are approaching Kin Pun....
There is one petrol/gas station just before reaching "downtown" KinPun. Golden Sunrise is directly across the street. That's how you can find it very easily. But i think most local people know of Golden Sunrise anyway...

I stayed 2 nights. ate often at the restaurant. enjoyed relaxing int my AC cooled room with wonderful views. had laundry done with a 1 day turnaround and done nicely. great staff.
traveled solo as a foreign female and felt safe and secure.
highly recommend Golden Sunrise!

Room Tip: room 8 has nice view of distant hillside w/pagoda. also since upstairs you won't have noise of people's footsteps, etc on top of you.

I stayed here for 2 nights. The staff are nice and helpful, the rooms are big and we'll appointed. The food in the restaurant is out of this world, however be prepared for a long wait because everything is cooked from scratch (recommend fish curry ). The location is good only a 5 minute walk from the trucks that take you up to the golden rock. The only downside is the Internet because it's non existent virtually.

This Bamboo-Hut and garden stile hotel is one of the best I saw so far in the mid prize range in Myanmar. Very nice atmosphere. I also tried the restaurant which is nothing special but still good. Breakfast is good.

I had a lovely stay here with my family. The room and bathroom are tastefully decorated. We drink cocktail and eat at bar & restaurant which has a lovely setting with friendly staffs. Especially the food is very very delicious. We cannot forget meals cooked by chef Ko Kyaw Zaw.
