“Escape life in a beautiful and peaceful location”
Reviewed 11 April 2017 for a stay in April 2017

As a family of four used to rushing through life, this holiday was perfect for us. We could escape the usual hectic routine and relax and explore; spending quality time as a family. John's cottage was beautifully clean when we arrived. The cottage is very comfortable and cosy with everything you need for an enjoyable stay. We had many adventures during our stay. We climbed PEN-Y-GHENT, enjoyed a picnic by Stainforth river and hired bikes from the cycle shop in Settle. The children loved playing out in the safety of the quiet village and made some new friends. We have already booked the cottage to return again next year.

“Home from home in idylic village in Yorkshire countryside”
Reviewed 12 August 2016 for a stay in July 2016

Langcliffe is a very small village - don't expect shops (although Mr Tesco found it no problem). It's only a mile from Settle which has everything including tourist information.
There were lovely views from the cottage of sheep-filled fields and Yorkshire Dales scenery.
Great location for climing the three peaks, as well as Malham Cove and the limestone pavement (featured in the 7th Harry Potter film).

The lounge is comfortable with reading-lights by each armchair, a TV, DVD player and CD player (but don't expect Internet/WiFi). There's also a hearth for a fire and wood supplies. The kitchen isn't huge but works fine. The bathroom is lovely and spacious. The stairs are quite steep but the attic has three beds and some books and toys for younger children.
We appreciated the space for muddy boots at the back and there's also a shed to store bikes. Parking is a hundred yards away beyond a pretty church.
Out of the front window is a picturesque village green with rabbis lolloping and swallows swooping. Within five minutes of arriving we'd seen a nuthatch and woodpecker in the back garden.

We had a lovely family holiday there.

“Lovely cottage in a great setting”
Reviewed 7 June 2016 for a stay in May 2016

Set in a quiet village near Settle and Malham. this is a lovely cottage which ticks all the boxes for a home from home. Very comfortable and cosy. The village green located in front of the cottage is ideally placed for children to play and there is also a small playground nearby. The green is also a good place to spot rabbits and pheasants as are the fields behind the cottage. Settle is a short walk away and there are some good walks to be had nearby. Langcliffe is a great base for exploring the dales.

We had a great time in this small hidden village. The house opens onto the village green and provides a stunning sunset in the evening. The weather was mixed but the cottage cosy so no problem coming back from a trip. Comfortable and homely with all mod cons in the kitchen and an excellent bed in the master bedroom. The bathroom was lovely, constant hot water and heat at the flick of a switch (all inclusive). This is the second time we have been and no doubt there will be a third.

“A lovely little cottage in a picturesque village.”

If you want a quiet, peaceful and picturesque place to stay John's cottage is ideal.
The cottage itself is cosy, comfortable and very clean. Everything you need for self catering is provided. The lovely shower and hot baths were most appreciated after days spent walking in the rain!!!!
The village itself is very pretty and although there are no shops, during our stay there was a massive book sale in the church, a plant and bric a brac sale next to the village hall and Sunday teas provided by the local residents. It is only a short drive or walk to Settle, where there are many small shops, pubs and restaurants.
The cottage is an ideal base from which to explore the many diverse attractions in the Yorkshire Dales. And with the cottage and all the local pubs welcoming pets it was a bonus to be able to take our dog with us.

“Warm and welcoming, great location”

Despite the variable weather, the storage heaters kept the cottage warm and welcoming. The beds are more comfortable than our own, the sheets and towels provided were high quality and everything was spotless. We stayed here for a week last September and had to come back: there was so much more left to explore, from dog-friendly real ale pubs to limestone pavements of great beauty in the snow. We slept really well, were perfectly relaxed and comfortable in the cottage, and made up the coal fire just for the sheer pleasure of toasting crumpets at it. We expect to be back again, there are still waterfalls we haven't found. Thanks, Mary

A lovely cottage in a quiet village , very close to a Church and central village square and play area.
Comfortable, good washing facilities, friendly neighbourhood and close to Settle where there were some interesting little shops.
A good location for visiting the Yorkshire Dales and also the Lake District.
