We booked for 2 nights wanting to be close to nature, but not exactly a big fan of 'roughing' it! We were half afraid that we'd be staying in a BnB, but we needn't of worried! The hut itself was hotel standard inside. Absolutely beautiful with little personal touches everywhere. It was spotlessly clean and had everything we could possibly need.
In the bathroom, the shower and sink had hot water and a flushing toilet and a heated towel rail, along with nice thick towels. I can't say enough how clean it was!
The kitchen was fully equipped with cutlery, pans, plates etc. There is a 2 ring gas hob and a big sink. The table can be lifted and lowered in front of the bench to give you room when you want. There's a gorgeous wood burner, which we didn't use as it was quite warm and apparently it really kicks out heat. Ady left an electric radiator for us though to take the chill out in the evening. (There is also 2 electrical sockets)
The bed was cosy and oh, so comfortable!! We slept so well!
The campground that is next to the hut is small, so you don't get overrun by a million campers. It wouldn't really matter anyway as the hut has it's own private area that the other campers can't go in; Ady is quite strict about that!! You, however, have free rein to wander through the campsite, which is actually a stunning garden. There is a pond with a little hut that has seats and an electric kettle if you fancy sitting by the pond with a cup of tea!
Ady himself was the perfect host. Nothing was too much bother and he genuinely wanted to make sure that everyone who came to his site left happy. We certainly did! I like going to new places and rarely go back to the same place twice, this will be the exception. We are eagerly looking forward to going back. After 2 nights, we felt like we'd been away for a week.
The countryside is gorgeous and the site is located within easy reach of many placess.
I very highly recommend this shepherds hut, it's the perfect place to get away from it all, but still have comfort.
Me and my sister stayed for 2 nights. We go on a weekend away together each year and always look for quirky places to stay. This one has been the best by far. The owners were very welcoming and friendly, even built us a grill over the fire when we advised we would be eating camp fire style. The facilities in the hut were superb, we even got a welcome treat of wine and chocs. Lovely peaceful setting. Hope to visit again
Warm welcome from the owner.really beautiful cosy shepherds Hut, with amazing views. Highly recommend
We had a great weekend stay. Really peaceful. We cooked outside all weekend and the owners helped us by providing a grate to go above the outside fire. We go somewhere different every year and this has been the best one so far. Definitely recommend and hope to return in the future
