Luckily, the hotel we wanted to stay at on the town square in Fegeac was booked out so we took Trip Advisor's advice to stay at this hotel. The owners of the hotel (about 26 rooms), Bruno and Karine, are outstanding. Both are very friendly and Karine is an excellent cook. The meals and wines are first class and served in the beautifully presented chateau.

Rather than furnish the chateau in the 15-17th Century style, they have chosen to furnish in a modern style and incorporate a modern art gallery ( paintings for sale). We love it.

Grezes is very well located to explore the Lot region and we are very glad we stayed at Le Grezalide and not in a densely populated town with difficult parking

The Hotel le Grezalide is an incredible gem - hidden away in the French Southwest. The main building is renovated from a Knights of St. John hostelry previously devoted to pilgrims on the route to Santiago de Compostela. The meals are SUPERB! The best continental breakfast I have ever had (and I have had many). Bruno is a fantastic host; Karin is the fabulous chef!
The village of Grezes is small and has nothing to recommend itself except for quiet and good walking. However, you are within easy drive to Rocamadour, St. Circ Lapopie and Figeac. There are many prehistoric caves in the area as well.
We found this an excellent stopping off spot on a road trip from Sarlat to St. Remy de Provence.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the renovated Chateau.

We were traveling in France country side and looking for “Real France” and definitely found it in “Le Grezalide”.
We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights in the beautiful “Chambre Massoudy ” room. We really would like to compliment Bruno and Karine for their hospitality. We weren't not such easy guest, but Bruno was always nice and kind in every situation and made our stay very enjoyable. The hotel is very clean and very well maintained. The beds are very comfortable. We enjoyed to spend time in the pool , especially after a long day of traveling. We especially like art work in the hotel and in the room.
We were following Bruno's advice as to what to visit in Lot and were not disappointed. Breakfast is very fresh and on the sweet side. My husband could not eat sweets for health reasons so Karine made eggs for him and we really appreciated such personal attention.

We loved Lot a lot, it was our favorite region in France and we definitely will be back and will stay in “Le Grezalide”. Ilana, Alex and Lina O. Los Angeles.

We stayed as a couple at La Grezalide for two nights while on a holiday tour of the Lot Valley.

The building dates back to the 17th Century or perhaps earlier but although recently restored as a hotel its classic roots remain evident in the high ceilinged side rooms and wide stone staircase.

The manager was very welcoming and took us to a well appointed and spacious room with bathroom, comfortable bed and fridge. Although our room lacked air conditioning, it was not overly hot thanks to use of shutters and windows. There was plenty of light for reading in bed.

Although our menu included as part of our package offered limited choice, the evening meals were most enjoyable as was breakfast. Other evening menus were available. Wine prices started at around 15Euros. The hotel contained many interesting works of art and was clearly a showroom for accomplished artists.

Minor negative points: the WiFi in our room was a bit intermittent and there was limited shade around the pool.

All in all a very pleasant stay and we would hope to return at some point.

This is a perfect, peaceful spot to escape the bustle of holiday-time St Cirq la Popie, half an hour away, and Figeac, 20 minutes further along the Lot valley. The staff were friendly without being over-attentive, the location is quiet and peaceful. Accommodation is of two types - some in the old chateau, which is also where brekfast and dinner are eaten, others in a U-shaped ground flloor annexe, across the garden, which is where we stayed. This patt apparently was used by a school in the 50s, but it feels nothing like that now! Plenty of trees and shrubs that attract hundreds of beautiful butterflies, and each room has its own little sitting out area. There's an outdoor unheated swimming pool. The hotel has several changing art exhibitions for guests to enjoy, which adds an interesting dimension to your stay.

We ate dinner outside on the terrace of the chateau, which was very pleasant. Service was a little slow and the food was only average - perhaps a little over-priced - but nothing to complain about.

Apparently the Sunday Times has classified them as 'one of the top 100 hotels in Europe' - I wouldn't quite go along with that, but it is a very pleasant place to stay.

Room Tip: Disabled travellers would haveno problem with ground floor rooms in the annexe.
