“A little mamma adventure”
Reviewed 8 April 2013 via mobile

Stayed just over a week, very welcoming family run resort, relaxed and jolly staff, the "little mama" aka Merley the hostess with the mostess makes you feel very at home approachable and so helpful.
The resort has a lot to offer, with boat trips to the most beautiful islands around, your destinations vary from fantastic lakes to idyllic picturesque paradise islands turquoise warm sea white sand coconut trees which in most of our visits to places felt untouched,
The excertions to many of these islands give you a chance to snorkel and what a place to snorkel as the water is so clear and the wildlife is so rich underwater, adults will be amazed admiring the coral wildlife, children will be ticking off the list from the cast of pixars "finding nemo" as they all seem to be their.
We bought the package of scuba diving which was superb- a charismatic eccentric swiss dive master marcel made our group of 4 feel really relaxed and was able to cope with all our different abilities of diving , he was calm polite enthusiastic and taught the 4 of us to become compitant divers, as an experience to see a wide array of wildlife even got the chance to see a ship wreck which was rather fun and dramatic.
Would love to go back and explore other islands.

Me & my miss's stayed at Discovery resort, Coron. Was a great balance between isolated from noisy town but not a million miles away, real bonus with free wifi, big tv with sky (films) and pool table to help pass the time. I went diving with Discovery Divers also based at the resort which makes it extremely convenient. The whole experience was great, no dodgy lunch, no extra fees for a wet suit or fins and a nice small group with a very chirpy relaxed dive master. Thumbs up.

Discovery Resort is a really relaxing and peaceful island but only a 10 minutes boat ride away from the small town of Coron. The staff at the resort were very friendly and always happy to help. We stayed for 9 nights in a very cute bamboo hut, with great views out to the sea, palm trees and hammocks!

The island is in a great location to go on boat trips to explore the surroundings - our favourite visits were Kayangan Lake, snorkelling to see a variety of tropical fish and a Japanese shipwreck, a trip to the gorgeous Pass Island, Maquinit hot springs and Malcapuya Island. There are plenty more places to explore or go scuba diving.

I would highly recommend visiting Discovery Resort - my friends & I had an amazing experience and I would love to go back.

Room Tip: Our room had mosquito nets and A/C and was very comfortable - and the jungle noises added to the exp...

We stayed on the island for a week and would definitely like to come back. The staff were extremely helpful and accommodating and we had great views over the bay from our cottage.

The resort organizes diving trips, boat trips to nearby islands and various expeditions which we went on several times and were extremely happy with.

The food was also very tasty as it was freshly cooked and bought straight from the market everyday. We were extremely happy with our stay and would definitely recommend staying here.

It was our first time in Coron & we booked through their website. It was misleading. The location is not in the main Island of Coron, so it was already a huge disadvantage. One has to take their boat & pay for the fare. To take off, the boat has to wait for other passengers. So for another group tour, we got late.
The price of the room was expensive for what was offered. It was just bed, toilet, shower & shelves (no cabinet). For some reason it was not regularly cleaned. The toilet & shower, were even for Philippine Standard, so minimal. The ceiling light got broken on the first night, and even if we mentioned it, it wasn't changed.
The Administration also lacks organization. You mention something important to one of the heads, it doesn't reach the others. We have to discuss the same problem over and over again to four different people in Tagalog and in English everyday just to clarify something.
We finally decided to check-in another hotel in the middle of the City, located in a quiet area (Eco Lodge) to get the worth of our money.

We arrived in Coron Town at sunset and didn't know how we were getting to our resort. However, we were pleasantly surprised to see a shuttle waiting for us with our resort name and our names on a sign. We got off the shuttle at the water not realizing that we had to boat across to the resort. It was stunningly beautiful to ride out of Coron Town on the water at sunset over to Discovery Divers Resort. There were twinkle lights and small light posts going up the steep hill to the sleeping accommodations and a laid-back atmospheric lit restaurant right off the dock. We freshened up and had dinner. The food was pretty good. The room was clean and quiet. The fan was enough to keep cool. We awoke to spectacular views and were able to arrange for a boat ride back to town in time to catch our next boat for a Tao Trip. We will definitely be back as we were not able to explore the beauty of Coron but we know we missed out.
