Okay. Of course we didn't expect great sushi here. We didn't even expect good sushi. This is, after all, not Japan, not even Manila but Coron in Palawan. We didn't expect horrible sushi either, however that was exactly was this was. The dinner went something like this:

Me: "Can we have the tuna nigiri, please?"
Waitress: "Sorry, we're out of tuna, we only have salmon"
Me: "Alright, we'll take the salmon then. Can I have a mango shake, please?"
Waitress: "Sorry, no mango"
Me: "Oh okay, what kind of fruit do you have then?"
Waitress: "Sorry, we have no fruit"
Me: "Uhm okay, just a water then, thanks"

A few minutes later..

Waitress: "Would you like pickled ginger or raw ginger for your sushi, Sir?"
Me: "Pickled ginger, please"
Waitress: "We don't have picked ginger"
Me: "Uhm.. okay, I guess I'll have the fresh ginger then.."

Sushi arrived. The salmon had just been pulled out of the freezer so it was ice cold and so wet it was leaking water on the plate. The fish to rice ratio on the nigiri was about 1:6, in fact I've never seen a bigger rice ball on sushi before. The rice was luke warm and fell apart the moment it touched the soy sauce. The wasabi was without flavor.

The salmon itself was soggy without any taste to it, a slight hint of salmon perhaps but that was about it. The sashimi was the same. The two lonely prawns on top of two massive luke warm rice balls looked old and the tail of the prawn was black for some reason.

Bill was 750 pesos. We couldn't wait to leave.

And to the reviewer claiming that nowhere is there fresher sushi than on top of the water the fish was caught in: Salmon is not caught in the Philippines.

It only took a few minutes for our order to arrive. It was disappointing that ramen was unavailable at that time. Blueberry juice is very good. Food are very tasty. Staffs are very accomodating and friendly.

Japanese food in Coron town. They have great Ramen, and delicious, cheap sushi and sashimi. If you need your wasabi fix out here, this is the place. Everything is caught right off of Coron, brought from the market, so nowhere is there fresher sushi then on top of the water the fish was caught in. I think it was the 3rd story of this dive shop/hotel.

The Sky Restaurant is a pleasant 3rd floor outside restaurant w/ nice hard wood tables & chairs. It has great night time views of the native camp fires on Coron Island across the bay, the cross on top of Mt Tapyas and the lights from the fishing boats. This Japanese & Filipino restaurant had delicious Japanese pork (do not know it's special name). The fish & chips were very unique and well presented. The prices are much lower than Bistro Coron or La Sirenita. It had the least expensive drinks and fresh mango shakes in town. I wish I found this restaurant during the day because it has great views, however, it turn out to be a special last nights dinner which I will remember. This restaurant will pleasantly surprise you.
