“Not for beginners!”
Reviewed 6 March 2014

The hike to the summit of Mt. Dalara (second highest mountain in north Palawan!) is a 5 hour trip and you should have good condition. Do not forget to bring drinking water. You can start or end the tour in Mabentangen. The trail leads through jungle until you are over the tree area, then you have a fresh breeze and grassland. On top there are two towers for communication. You can see that also from the Coron boulevard or when you are on a boat in the Coron bay. Other way leads through the valley of a small river in the jungle and it ends behind the Hills of Coron. It is worth the effort: you will get an amazing 360 degrees view over Coron Island, the bay, gutob bay and the island of busuanga.
Take note: Mt. Dalara is NOT the little hill over Coron with the (now fallen) cross having the stairs to go up!! That takes you just half an hour!! Mt. Dalara is much higher and there are NO stairs to climb up! When you do not know the way better ask for a local guide.

“The view!!”
Reviewed 13 February 2014

You'll get much needed excercise making that climb to the top. But don't worry it's not hiking, you'll be taking stairs. If you get tired you can always turn around and look at the view before you reach the top. When you get to the top, all those calories you burned off are worth it when you see the view.

“A nice day trip.”

Be sure to take a guide from town, the roads inside the jungle are not always marked clearly.

“Worth the effort!”
Reviewed 16 April 2012

Ok this one was tough on us. We are not amongst the fittest and we suffered to reach the top. If it hadn't been for my husband, I would have turned back. But he kept me going and wow, what a sight the top offers!!! A 360 degrees view of the Busuanga Island.
