We started our honeymoon from Puerto Princesa, so needless to say there would be a comparison between the former and Coron. Both towns are in Palawan, and both are noted for their beauty and tourism. Puerto Princesa, as many have described, is incomparable to Coron's natural beauty. And true to this, that was what we found. Coron's hot springs, Mt. Tapyas, endless lagoons and fresh food, etc.

However, when it comes to tourism readyness (if ever there is no such term, please allow me to use it in this review), Coron needs to learn a lot from its sister (Puerto Princesa). Before proceeding to Coron, I have carefully compared my options using the feedback found in trip advisor. So I thought that I was ready to conquer Coron as I shoved those inns with at least 3 terrible remarks.

Upon our arrival to Coron eco lodge, we were greeted by the trip advisor icon placed on top of the receptionists' desk. And again, I thought, "hey, Php 1.8k++ per night isn't so bad at all". For a leisure tourist, with so many extra money to spare, this deal is not so bad. But for a budget conscious traveler who expects quality service in return, that amount (which is almost equivalent to $45) must really be equated with good service.

It would be unfair to say that this place is bad. So I'll first make a list of what's good:
1. True to the fine print
2. Cleanliness
3. Air condition is provided (in a humid country, this counts)

And the not-so-good part:
1. Breakfast (once, we were offered congee, really. For someone who knows the capital for making congee, well you know that this could be a rip off. Also, the congee tasted as if it was meant for recuperating patients).
2. Water (2nd floor occupants must be prepared for the flow of water coming out of their toilet faucets and shower heads)
3. Most of the little food items or condiments that we asked for breakfast are either unavailable or not for free (i.e.chocolate drink, ketchup, hot sauce).
4. It was weird not to have any tour guides on our first day of tour (city tour). Our tours were sorted out by this hotel as well.
5. The worst thing was our last day of stay at Coron eco lodge. The front desk asked us to leave 2 hours before our check-out time so that we could be on time for the van that would transfer us to the airport. It turned out that the van already was packed with tourists from the other hotels. To save money, they asked us to join this group. The issue lies not in the space at the van, but the amount of time it took us to wait for our plane (we waited for 4 hours). All done just to ensure their convenience.

Hence, for this trip alone: if not for the natural beauty of Coron, I might not have ended as a happy wanderer. :p

Thank you so much for your insights and thank you for choosing our hotel for your honeymoon. The food choices for breakfast are currently being evaluated due to the comments that we have been receiving. We hope that in the coming months more viands will be offered to our guests. For the water supply, we are presently troubleshooting the problem with the water pump that pushes the water up to the second floor. Also last January during the month of your stay, we were upgrading the water that flows into the hotel by installing a new water filtration system to help take away corrosion and impurities coming from the deep well. Most of our food condiments and hotel utilities are supplied and shipped from Manila because these items cost so high when bought in Coron. We will make it a point that we don't run out of supply next time around.

We apologize for the van transfer inconvenience but we just want to use the economies of scale in order to fully utilize the van's load capacity. Another point we like to raise is that we always make sure that guests are informed about this when we send a quote. Nonetheless, we thank you for taking time to write us and inform us about our shortfalls.

Given this was only about £30 for the night, we booked this on the premise we may want to go to Coron for New Years eve rather than having to find transport back to our hotel which was over an hours drive away.
It was basic accommodation with an en suite shower and toilet, two single beds, air con and a TV set. WiFi was included in the rate and was fast and stable.
If you compare this to what else is available in central Coron (and we have stayed in Coron before) this is the best by far we have seen.
For what we paid, this was great. Spotlessly, centrally located and does exactly what it says on the tin.
Can't fault it.

Room Tip: I think all rooms are the same.

One thing that I liked in this accomodation is the minimalist interiors and bright colors of the building. The staff is courteous and assisted me and my company with our luggage and directions in getting around the town. Though we were mostly out for the day because of our outdoor activities in exploring the islands of Calamianes, we always get a good rest at the end of the day lying in clean beds and taking hot showers in the comfy bathrooms of our units.

Overalll, though the cost of the unit may be pricey relative to some inns in Coron; the cleanliness and the fact that the building is just recently built and opened, I can say I got the value for our money spent.

Room Tip: Pick a room in the second floor as the noise in the reception and dining area maybe offputting for t...

Our family went to Coron for my father's birthday. We chose coron ecolodge due to the good reviews from tripadvisor. And things were so right on the money. From booking to transportation, everyone was very attentive and service oriented. There were concerns with our balance, they processed everything without any hint of annoyance (i have a tendency to be pesky with computations). We requested our bathroom to be cleaned while we're out, we come back to a pristine room. We asked for dining recommendations, they did not hesitate to list them for us (take note: they have their own dining facility).

Add to the great mix of peaceful surroundings yet convenience of everything. You could actually save a lot on the town tour because except for the hot springs and mt. tapyas, all other stuff on the itinerary are only a few steps away.

did i mention that there was a power outage for a couple of hours on our second night in coron? every other establishment in the area is dark. The ecolodge? The lone shining star.

gotta love the ecolodge...
