Description: Jaipur Spice is a bright and welcoming Indian restaurant located on the York Road just off the A19 on the outskirts of Easingwold. The large dining area – newly refurbished and decorated in a contemporary style, – is family friendly; the informal atmosphere, helpful, friendly staff and traditional menu at Jaipur Spice have made it one of the most popular restaurants in the area. Signature dishes include the Tandoori platter for two – with succulent pieces of chicken and lamb and onion bhajis; the Moni Puri Machli Massala – a traditional fish curry from eastern Bangladesh cooked with chillies and garlic; and the lamb Rogan Josh cooked with pan-grilled tomatoes, fenugreek and fresh coriander.

“Lovely food - expensive drinks.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 December 2013

Called early on a Saturday night without pre-booking, and were the only diners in the restaurant to begin with althought a few more did arrive during our meal.
We had the usual popadom and pickle tray appetiser, followed by starters which were really nice. We were recommended the garlic chilli chicken by our waiter, and he even did one without the fesh chillies for my wife so it wouldn't be too spicy for her. The curries were just lovely, plenty of spice and flavours and just the right amount of heat in both. The meal also came with pilau rice and choice of naan included.
No room for a dessert, so can't comment on this.
The only downside was the price of the drinks - over £8 for a large lime & soda and a large diet Coke is a bit much I think.

“Very pleasant dining near Easingwold”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 December 2013

Attending a meeting at the nearby Emergency Planning College at the Hawkhills on Sunday evening, I arrived too late for the College evening meal, so looked on TripAdvisor for an alternative. The Jaipur Spice fitted the bill, and was only a mile from the College on the old York Road into Easingwold. At night it is impossible to miss with dazzling blue lights, and has a large car park.

I was greeted warmly on arrival, and my drinks order was taken. I ordered a lamb jalfreezi, with rice and naan bread, which was excellent, being well presented and tasty. For dessert I had a banana flavoured ice cream, which was delicious, but rather small.

I can recommend the Jaipur Spice, and look forward to dining there again when I am next at the Hawkhills.

“Very good experience”

We had the 'banquet' for two, which was a bit of an exaggeration, but was nevertheless a tasty and filling meal in a pleasant environment. We would return.

“Wish this was my local!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 October 2013 via mobile

After checking trip advisor for a decent Indian near Aldwark we came here and it did not disappoint. 5* food hygiene rating, clean, shiney cutlery, waiters dressed smart ( v friendly & helpful), good atmosphere and most of all an excellent chef. Try the bhaji's - not the usual fried to a crisp, dry onion but a really delicate bhaji with depth of flavour. Garlic naan was light and fluffy rather than heavy stodge. Even the pickle tray had a lovely vibrant green yoghurt ( must have ground mint & coriander in??) Best Indian I've had, wish we had one like this in Reading. Service was prompt too and they were busy. Worth the drive out!
