The George at Easingwold

We can only agree with the people who have previously reviewed this establishment. It is in a great location, being only 20 minutes drive to the Rawcliffe, Park and Ride and then a 15 minutes bus trip into York. It is also only an one hour drive to Whitby and the National Park. The accommodation is very comfortable, clean and spacious. The restaurant/bar food is of an excellent standard. People rave about the steak and ale pie, but the Venison and also the chicken dish were delicious. There is plenty of parking spaces for guests and contrary to a previous reviewer we had access to Wifi in our upstairs room.

Staying in Easingwold we dined out at The George both nights and found the food to be excellent and reasonably priced and the staff especially the landlord extremely welcoming and helpful even to the extent of turning out cupboards trying to find us a phone charger! He also keeps his Black Sheep extremely well...an excellent pint or several!

My wife and I stayed 2 nights at The George. Really delighted with almost everything at this place! Easy to find, lots of free parking, guests' bedrooms well appointed, clean, quiet, comfortable beds, fresh food, wonderful host & friendly employees. If I hadn't been on a business trip requiring intensive use of the internet, this B&B would have been perfect. Unfortunately no net connectivity is provided via ethernet or wi-fi in the privacy of a guest's bedroom - the internet can be only accessed in "very public" places.

Didn't stay at the hotel, just had a meal on a Sunday evening. Lovely atmosphere, very welcoming. The food was excellent, far above average pub grub. All beautifully presented, an extra bonus is that they do smaller portions at lower cost so you have room for the scrummy puddings

Just returned from a two night stay at the George, great hotel with friendly people. Our room was lovely and clean, warm and comfy the floor had got a good slope on it but that added character to the place.Very good breakfast and also had a great steak so if you are thinking of taking a short weekend break go for it .

Room Tip: Room 2 as got a large spacious bathroom

We spent 5 nights here and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. The room was very clean, comfortable and had a great shower. The value for money is very hard to beat these days.

The food was excellent although personally, since they were so delicious, I pretty much only had fish and chips and sticky toffee pudding. The latter was so good my wife took the recipe home with her and yes Kay, we have already tried out the sauce and it turned out great thanks. Just need to make the pudding myself next time too ;-)

The location is excellent for visiting Yorkshire with York being just up the road but also the Dales, the moors and the coast all being within an hours drive.

We can highly recommend this place to anyone

Nice to know that the UK operates a different calorie count to Germany!...a few home comforts are understandable...good luck with making the sticky toffee puddings...let us know the outcome on your next trip.
