A two star inn offering comfortable bedrooms at reasonable prices located in the lovely village of Easingwold near to York, The Moors, The Dales, Castle Howard and reasonably near to the coast.
We stayed for two nights and ate in the hotel on both evenings - choice of dining rooms - one for the residents - one for everyone - one in the bar area - the food was to a high standard - obviously they have an excellent chef - breakfast was also very good.
The proprietor was hands on and the staff very friendly, helpful and obliging. Limited parking at rear or off street "free" parking at the front of the inn. A very enjoyable stay.

Room Tip: Book a room upstairs in the inn.

We are pleased you enjoyed your time in Easingwold. As a matter of clarification, both the Market Place Restaurant and Courtyard, whilst offering the same menu choice, are available for both residents and non-residents.

We booked this hotel online while sitting in the bar. Top tip is to book online as their best rate is definitely to be had there. The welcome was friendly, all the staff were lovely and when we were contemplating a walk, the lovely landlady brought us a pack with six walks to choose from. Nothing was too much trouble, beer was well kept, the room was spotless, spacious and well appointed.
We ate in the restaurant on our first night and the food was also delicious. We shared a pudding of sheer decadence; chocolate torte with white chocolate mousse. Everything was wonderful. Breakfast, which can too often be a let down, was just as good as everything else. There was a great range of dishes on offer and again, nothing was too much trouble. Our two night stay was excellent value and I have no hesitation in awarding the George five stars.

A delightful stay in the friendly atmosphere of The George. Comfortable bed in a room overlooking the main square. Usual hotel amenities all in good order with a good restaurant with varying choices. A great place to stay and look around also very useful for the main buses into York.

Room Tip: Room overlooking main square as others are in courtyard at rear.

Our third visit to this lovely hotel, nothing disappointed us. The room was lovely, bed very comfy and shower works a treat. The food was excellent and the staff were all so very kind, friendly and welcoming. Perfect base for visiting York, Pickering, Whitby and lots of other North Yorkshire sights. Our thanks go to our hosts Kay, Michael and the big fella, Keith and their staff for a wonderful stay.

Room Tip: Ground floor

Myself and my partner stayed for one night as we wanted to be close to Lightwater valley and it was only half an hour away! Perfect place to stay, we were made very welcome by all the staff. Our dinner was excellent , home made cooked to order food! Great menu and specials. I had the Venison and it tasted fabulous...and looked to good to eat!! I would defiantly stay again.. Or even travel from Preston for a meal as it was that good. Breakfast was excellent too a full English plus cereals and fruit! And service with a smile. Thanks for a great night!
