We had a lovely time in Pittenweem, The Cooperage was perfect for us, and our friends from the UK.
Close to the harbor and the coastal path was beautiful; we walked to Anstruther and had fish & Chips at their famous fish house which was very tasty!
Pittenweem, and the Cooperage was a very nice place to visit and i would recommend either, or both to anyone.

Good location for walking to shops, harbour and Fife footpath. The cottage was warm and clean and nicely presented. However it lacked some practical things, lack of washing line and pegs(rotary dryer propped up in garden but nowhere to put it in) this was annoying especially as a washing machine had been fitted instead of a dish washer. No hooks to hang up towels a small heated towel rail is not enough and nowhere to store things in upstairs bathroom. Feel some of the carpets and sofas need refreshing to justify 5 stars! Garden is a suntrap with nice comfortable seating. Book you will enjoy and be comfortable. The addross farm shop is a must as is the harbour to see the seals and beautiful Elie and the pottery at crail.

My wife and I stayed in the Cooperage for a long weekend with our son 15 years old and daughter 12 years old.
The house was immaculate, with all the mod cons you would ever require to guarantee a comfortable stay. There is off road parking and a private garden, which is a real sun trap.
I read the previous review, and for fellow travelers can now confirm that the Cooperage has wi-fi (available in all rooms), there are new black out blinds to the back of the house and a beautiful stained glass window has been installed, in the main bedroom. The bedrooms are now very private and the windows have a secluded outlook, which is welcomed and unusual for Pittenweem.
New beds have also been installed and according to my children, they were very comfortable.
Location is superb and less than a 5 minute walk to the historic harbour.
I have already booked a return visit and can't wait to get back.

Booked The Cooperage for the September weekend 2014. I went with my partner Steven and baby son Dylan (8 months old). Lovely cottage. Easy to get to and find. Spotless and spacious downstairs and very comfortable. Lovely outside space and the bi-fold doors really are lovely and let loads of light in. There is NO wifi or mobile signal in this area which made it very difficult to phone or check anything on google ie booking for resturant in St Andrews or Phoning to find out how to switch on and use the heating in the property (there was no instructions unfortunately for the heating but there is instructions for everything else in the property). Upstairs the main bedroom is lovely .. bright..clean and comfortable with an en suite too (shower). The MAJOR setback is the fact that there is a clear glass window in the en suite and no blinds.. hence when getting in and out of the shower you give half of the road a swatch of your nakedness.. coming off the toilet is pretty awkward too... really needs either blinds or frosted glass. The main bedroom is the same .. absolutely NO curtains.. or blinds.. and there are three windows so you have absolutely no privacy. The second bedroom has two wooden cabin beds .. certainly ok for young children. Certainly not comfortable if you are an adult and again no curtains at the windows so no privacy in that bedroom either. The mattresses are stick thin and ok if you are a very light person but I am only 10st and found them very uncomfortable and banged my legs off the wood countless times unfortunately. Could really do with normal single beds and curtains/blinds at the windows. Apart from these tweaks the cottage is lovely. There is parking off road and it is in a lovely position just up from the harbour of Pittenweem. We would recommend this cottage to others but would recommend the owner address the privacy aspect in the ensuite and bedrooms upstairs. Great position for visiting al the lovely wee places on the East Coast ie Crail.. St Andrews etc.
