With all the home comforts - and some we don't even have at home! - Alrigh nam Fiadh was the perfect base for our week in South Uist. The situation is perfect - ignore 'space city' on top of the hill and gaze instead out towards Loch Bee, the Cullin Hills of Skye on the horizon far beyond. This is a wonderful base for bird watchers in particular - many typical Hebridean species can be seen in the near vicinity and the excellent RSPB reserve of Balranald on North Uist is only half an hour's drive away. The house lives up to its name too, as red deer could be seen very nearby most evenings. Allan, the owner, is very welcoming and full of valuable advice about the area.
Cant recommend this holiday home highly enough. It is fully equipped with everything of the best quality - it is spacious, extremely comfortable and has everything you need and more. The owner Allan is very helpful and welcoming. This holiday home is an absolute treasure and its somewhere that you definitely want to return to. We stayed in November and the house was lovely and warm. Saw a magnificent 14 pointer stag outside the bedroom window one morning. Glorious views. An absolute must stay here place!
Without doubt this is the best holiday home we have stayed in. Allan the owner couldn't have been more helpful. The southern Hebrides are spectacular and wild in equal measure with truly stunning beaches.
Location on Loch Bee is magic. Walks and wonderful beaches close by. The house is beautifully presented and very thoughtfully provided for. A home from home. The owner a delight to do business with. Will definitely visit again.
Had a amazing holiday staying in this beautiful house. The islands are beautiful, every corner you turn reveals a different stunning view and the walks, at whatever level are endless. The pictures of house don't do it justice, it's a beautiful build by Allan's dad and excellent hospitality from both Allan and his mum, communication was good from the start. It's also in a good central location for getting ferries to Bara or Lewis/Harris and buying the cheapest freshest lobster and langoustines ever! Highly recommended, thank you Allan.
We went to Deer Pasture in May and I have been meaning to review the stay for weeks. The house is very spacious and well designed, with a large well equipped kitchen/ dining room that leads into the living room with its comfy sofas and large windows that overlook the loch. It was great to get back after a day of walking through the machiar to sit and watch the birds soaring and the sheep and lambs hopping through the rocky meadow. One evening we saw the deer - difficult to spot as they are so well camouflaged. The bedrooms, beds and bathrooms are all of the highest specification with all the wind and fresh air we were glad to sleep in comfort. The house is really energy efficient with underfloor climate heating, great insulation and the option of a fire if it is really cold (although I can't imagine needing it). There was loads of hot water, not always the case with large house rentals - which meant there was no waiting for it to heat up again. Allan was the perfect host - easy to chat to, kind, considerate with a good sense of humour. Lastly location - the positioning of the house is ideal for visiting North and South Uist and Benbecula, it is far enough from the road to be peaceful and close enough to get around easily. This is the perfect house for a visit to these wild, beautiful and friendly Islands.
