I'll start with the pro's of this hotel and go from there. The hotel is in a good location in Camrose, has a good restaurant, a very nice lounge and their salon's for weddings are nicely decorated. I knew right away this older hotel hadn't been updated in a while when at check in they give you an actual key to your room, not a swipe card, however nothing bad about that, probably safer and more secure than a swipe card to be honest.
The hallways leading to the room however are dim, dingy and the carpets are disgusting with all of the gross stains on them. Normally in a hotel when I run down the hall to get ice I'll just run in my socks, but there was no way I was doing that!
The rooms themselves are clean but dated. Normally in hotels they hang up the towels nicely and arrange the toiletries on the counter to make it look more welcoming. No effort was made in this, the towels were folded in half and thrown on the towel bar, make up wipes, a show shine kit and shower cap were thrown in a basket and the most hilarious part of the whole place was the soap dispenser hanging on the wall... For a hotel that supposedly touts itself as being a "full service hotel with an impressive array of amenities" I found the dispenser to be incredibly tacky and something I'd expect at a Western Budget.
Sleep would not come in the hotel because for some reason, the snow plows come out in the parking lot at 1:30 am and continue to beep and drive for over an hour... however on the plus side of that, while I was laying there, not sleeping, I got to stare up at the stained ceiling tiles and try to decide what the hole in the middle of the tile above my bed was...it looked suspiciously like either a bullet hole or possibly a peep hole.. both unsettling and for the price of a new one, you'd think it would have been replaced.
I also found the service to be less than desired. When we checked in, we were told no one was in the bridal suite that night and that we'd be able to have access to it to get ready for the wedding early the next day. However when the next day comes, we were not allowed to check in to it as previously told. Not a huge deal, but disappointing to be told one thing and then another.
