“Not for a young family”
Reviewed 10 August 2014

Beautiful setting. Glad we stayed in the lodges as the caravans looked shocking. No on site entertainment as it says on the website ( live entertainment) nothing for the kids to do at all. We had to travel out in the evenings to find something to do. The walks and the setting are beautiful but I thing some money needs spending on the facilities. We did speak to other families who where disappointed with the lack of things to do on site. We also had no dishwasher(as per the website) and a bucket under the sink full of dirty water from a leaking pipe, also no smoke alarm which with a young family is quite scary. The on site foreman was helpful trying to resolve our issues. Not the cleanest lodge we have stayed in and not good value for money. We got a £200 discount if I had had to of paid full price which is £1000 for the week I would of been very upset. We stayed in a better lodge over Christmas with full on site facilities for 5 nights for half the price. We won't be going back

Thank you for your comments on Ogwen Bank.
We had taken out the dishwasher as it was faulty, on checking the lodge in the morning and the bucket had been placed under the sink to save the water from the open waste going all over the floor. The dishwasher was replaced for you as soon as it was brought to our attention on the afternoon of your arrival. The smoke alarms in the lodges are situated in the hall between the kitchen and bathroom and on checking the lodge, was in place and working .
Ogwen Bank is a quite and relaxing park as described in the holiday brochure. The holiday brochures do provide a breakdown on all parks to make sure that the correct park is selected to suit the family requirements.
Entertainment has always been on a Saturday night and children’s entertainment on a Wednesday.
We were sorry that we did not full-fill your family expectations on this holiday and hope you find a more suitable location for your next holiday.

I went her with my girlfriend and her family who have been here many times. We went for the easter weekend. The lodge we stayed in was very clean, and having been to Center Parcs 5 times, I felt right at home. Views were lovely, our lodge looking out of the slate mountain where 'Zip World' is. Her family said that in the whole time they have been coming the place has not really changed much, however the pub was suited to that as it was a 'old fashioned boozer'. Food was nice in the pub area, pool tables were a bit shoddy but did not really matter. We went to the Welsh Mountain Zoo, Anglessey, Capel Curig, the tree trekking centre and also to the aquarium. I would absolutely stay here again, as the views in the valley are to die for.

Room Tip: Lodges are a bit more expensive than the caravans, however you get the rewards.

We were so glad that you all enjoyed your stay with us. We agree with your girlfriends parents, ogwen bank has not changed much over the years as we feel it would take away the caricature and feel of the park.
We are so lucky to be situated in such a beautiful part of north wales and are central to all local attractions.
We look forward to seeing you all soon again. From all the team at Ogwen Bank

My wife, my son and I headed down for the recent bank holiday weekend (3 nights) and stayed in one of the lodges. Real pretty tranquil setting with beautiful scenery all around. Lodges are kitted out well and are spacious and comfortable. No wifi (which is not unusual for this part of the country) so ideal setting to get away from it all. Not much to do on site, but we went here to explore the area, not just to sit about in the lodge. There's a bar on site and a games room with pool tables and some machines. Small Tesco Extra in Bethesda which is 3 minutes away and a bigger 24 hour Tesco near Bangor which is only 10 minutes or so away. Main route along North Wales is close by which allows easy travel to some lovely places. Would definitely come here again.

I am very sorry that you had these issues with your caravan . I hope that you informed the staff in reception and that the matter was dealt with for you. The caravans are bottom to mid range and as they are all situated in and under trees they do tend to feel a little damp but it is the location and settings that they are in. The local area had been having problems with the electric supply and thankfully he issue has been resolved.
We hope to see you all again, from all the staff at ogwen bank.

just got back from a three day break at Ogwen Bank. This is the 2nd time we had stayed there (first time was a while ago) and stayed in a Lodge which was well equipped and warm but some what dated.TV reception wasnt good. Local facilities are a bit of a let down, with nowhere to eat in the Village, or within walking distance. The clubhouse was a little cold and dark with limited menu. They have recently introduced a Sunday Carvery but this is all that is available on a Sunday, and once we have eaten one carvery, we didnt fancy another that day! No Wifi facilities, which did cause us a bit of a problem (but may not for some). On the plus side, the park has a wonderful mix of wildlife, and the setting is beautiful.

Stayed for 3 nights over Easter in one of the wooden lodges. First off the location is great. I was slightly worried due to knowing Bethesda and it isn't what you would describe as picturesque. However, as soon as you turn into the park from the A5, you're greeted by a great view, tumbling river, lots of ancient looking trees and a caravan park sympathetically placed within. The lodges are located right at the farthest point away from the entrance and have a great position.

The country park is ideally situated as a base to explore Snowdonia (Idwal cottage is about 4 miles away) or the coast (Bangor/Conwy etc).

Our lodge was as expected, perfect for us (2 adults + a toddler) but I think two teenage kids in tow and it would have felt cramped. The place was spotless, everything worked and the kitchen came with lots of mod-cons (microwave, dishwasher, washing machine). Being picky the television worked but was old hat.

It isn't luxurious but it comfortable and a perfect base to explore such a beautiful part of the world.

We have been to Ogwen Bank twice before with our children and stayed in the lodges. My partner and I are returning for a 3rd time for our anniversary next weekend and I can't wait to come again! Gorgeous lodges, friendly welcoming staff! Can't wait to book again for next year :-) think I need a loyalty card! Highly recommended
