“Great Place To Stay”
Reviewed 30 June 2014

Clean, well-run and loads to do for the kids. Stayed here for 5 nights at end of June with Eurocamp. Kids loved it, so much for them to do with the flumes, trampolines, tennis. I used the gym most mornings which was spotless and well equipped. Drove in to Sarlat most evenings as the food in the campsite restaurant not the best but a nice bar to sit and have a drink. Was quite bemused with Eurocamp rep though as she seemed to be clueless about everything we asked her! No idea when the pool closed. No idea of where the closest supermarket was and told us nothing about anything. Was as though she had just turned up and threw on a uniform! Forgot to give us a key for the mobile home too. Having said that, would recommend this site..relaxing and peaceful but with loads going on.

We spent a great week in a Canvas tent here at the end of June 2014. This is an excellent campsite which is very well managed. The swimming pool facilities for children are excellent and the toilets and shower blocks are spotlessly clean. The campsite was lively enough during the day but very quiet on a night (the high season hadn't started so this may differ in july/august). The food in the bar was delicious (can recommend the duck) and reasonably priced. I've been to a lot of campsites in France (more than 30) and this is one of the best campsites I've ever stayed at.

I am writing this review en route to Disneyland Paris. We have just left, having spent 9 nights at this wonderful campsite.

This was our first family campsite holiday and I can say now it won't be our last. We booked with Canvas and stayed in a 3 bed roomed air con'd mobile home. The mobile was brand new and much more modern than any I had seen previously. It was very well equipped but did not have a dishwasher or TV. This didn't bother us, although a dishwasher would have been nice. I think the euro camp mobiles have them.

We booked the linen package as we were flying and had limited baggage allowances. The sheets were spotless as were the towels. You will need to bring your own tea towels and face cloths however. We were given the mini camper package which was brilliant. This included baby bath, potty, bed rail, travel cot and buggy. (The buggy was better than our own!)

This campsite is located just outside the beautiful town of Sarlat, which is definitely worth exploring. It is a stunning medieval town built around a Benedictine abbey. We chose this campsite as we were attending a wedding nearby and it was the best option with young children. Other than our visit to sarlat and the wedding we were really lazy and didn't leave the site. The pool was fantastic. The kids just wanted to stay there all day long. There's an excellent canvass Family extra club also to keep everyone amused.

As it was early June the site wasn't too busy, so great for swimming with the younger children. They could go on the slides without fear of older children rail roading them or knocking them down.

The campsite has a lovely bar and restaurant too. The pizzas are delicious and available to take away .

The on site shop is limited and bread/ croissants have to booked in advance. There was no fresh milk available on Monday morning which was a bit of a problem with a one year old baby crying for a bottle. That said if that was the only glitch, we had little to worry about!

There is free wifi available all over the site which is fantastic considering most hotels would be limited or make you pay!

Overall I loved this site. The freedom the kids had running to and from our Friends mobile, watching the sun set from our veranda while enjoying a bottle of wine after a delicious BBQ and most of all the sheer feeling of relaxation I now have. Dare I say it, we were one with Nature, lol albeit on a 5 star campsite!!!

Overall a very good clean campsite,Excellent facilities for all ages, took our own folding camper stacks of room on our pitch which we choose when booking direct.
Food in the restaurant is excellent and reasonably priced, majority of staff have excellent language skills and are more than helpful.
Facilities for the children of all ages are very good.
In a great position for Sarlat, especially driving into Sarlat on market day via the back roads.

Stayed here mid August in a Canvas Holidays tent - 3 teenage girls. We loved the site which was very clean and tidy. Didn't use the bar but could hear the entertainment which went on until midnight several times per week - it finished at midnight so wasn't really a problem. The pool is good but gets crowded and its hard to find a lounger before about 5pm. If you want to go to Sarlat market on a Saturday use the campsite organised bus at 2 Euros pp as parking would be a nightmare. There is loads to see in the area which is extremely scenic and although places were busy we never got stuck in traffic and could always park. We went on a couple of local bike rides and managed to find a couple of shortish routes (c 4 - 7 miles) which weren't too hilly. The local village is small with one restaurant. Recommendations for days out are Sarlat, Domme, Rocamadour, Gouffre de Padirac (but book online unless you want to queue for 2 hours - we were glad we'd booked), a canoe trip down the Dordogne (Roquegeoffre are a good outfit). All in all a very enjoyable holiday.

Thank you for your view on our campsite, being clean and tidy, with regards to your stay last year.
Taking the bus at 2 euros per person to visit the market in Sarlat on Saturdays is in effect the best way to enjoy the trip and the town and not having to look for a parking space.
A pity we did not see you in the bar, but we are happy to hear the Entertainment, always ending at midnight, did not bother you too much.

We stayed here for a week in August 2013 with our three children aged 12, 10 and 4. We stayed with Canvas in a comfort plus 2 bed caravan.
The site is lovely, quite small but very well laid out with each pitch, whether caravan or tent having some privacy. The keycamp caravans seemed to be the newest but were also placed the closest together. The Canvas caravans were well placed but were all older. The only one which it would be very disappointing to get would be the one backing onto the kids club. Our 2 bedroom caravan was backing onto the hill and had nothing behind us so we were in a lovely spot. 2 bedrooms was a pretty tight fit for us and we probably wouldn't go for one like that again. It was quite old but perfectly clean and tidy.
The Canvas Family Extra was a bit of a disappointment to the older 2, the 2 girls running it were doing their best but they had to run activities from 0-3, 4-7, 8-11 and 12-17 plus the families stuff - just not doable and it was the older kids stuff that suffered. Our 4 yr old really enjoyed the club and had a lot of fun, we couldn't persuade our 10 yr old boy to have a go once he saw parachute games timetabled for his age group, and the teenaged activities were merged with the family ones into pool activities at lunchtime.
Our 12 yr old girl found it more difficult to make friends because of this, but our 10 yr old was able to join the site kids club and loved their competitions in ping pong, trampolining etc that they put on.
The pool is very nicely laid out and the kids loved the slides. The small water playground area didnt really get played with much as its on concrete so not really small child friendly.
The bar was a nice area for having a drink and we also enjoyed a couple of meals here. They did have entertainment like bands etc most evenings but by 12 the park was very quiet.
Would highly recommend but not for teenagers as not enough for them to do.

Great site, excellent facilities. Ideally positioned for Sarlat. We took our touring caravan, large pitch - some pitches could be a struggle to get onto if you have a large caravan without motor mover. Kids loved the pools and slides.
