“Honeymoon heaven!”
Reviewed 24 August 2013

My husband and I have just returned from our honeymoon at La Ferme de la Tour, and we are already planning when to go back. We stayed in La Fournil, the one bedroom gite, and it was heaven! The gite was spotlessly clean and contained absolutely everything we needed for a wonderful weeks break. We had our own terrace looking out across the rolling countryside where we enjoyed sitting watching the sun go down. La Ferme is situated in beautiful grounds, and we were delighted to meet the chickens and Chris and Kate's friendly dog toffee.
We were able to socialise with the other families staying at La Ferme, or at other times keep our selves to our selves thanks to high level of privacy between each gite. The grounds and the pool were immaculately maintained, and the wifi was extremely easy to use and reliable. It was also a nice surprise when we turned the TV on to discover we could receive English Sky TV!
We found Chris and Kate and their family to be really helpful and friendly. There always seemed to be someone on site which was reassuring. Their recommendations were extremely useful as we were new to the area, and we enjoyed visiting the restaurants they suggested.
At the end of the week it was easy to dispose of our rubbish and bottles as the bins were on the road a short distance from La Ferme.
We had an unforgettable honeymoon in the Dordogne and staying at La ferme was a huge part of that. It was such a pleasure coming back after busy days out to the quiet tranquility of this stunning place. We'll be back..

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at La Ferme de la Tour.

Chris and Kate couldn't have been more helpful and friendly during our stay. The accommodation was simply lovely (we stayed in Le Fournil - the gite for 2 people) - a real home away from home (I wanted to take the kitchen and views home with me!)

The information pack provided on arrival by Chris and Kate was spot on and meant that we explored a lot of this beautiful region - including some of the loveliest restaurants! One of our favourite activities was canoeing down the Dordogne river (and we got a discount too due to Chris' recommendations!)

All in all a fabulous relaxing holiday in a beautiful part of France.

We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to family and friends,
Helen & TIm

We stayed in the Grange in late April for six days. Chris and Kate could not have been more welcoming or helpful. The unit was spotless and extremely well equipped. No problems whatsoever with the WiFi.
The area around Sarlat is filled with history and wonderful scenery. You MUST have a car but driving is not difficult. Would go back in a second - in fact this was my second trip to the area.

We spent 5 days here after several weeks in Paris and Nice and it was just great. The first impressive thing was Chris's directions to get there - it is out of the way and we never would have found it without them.

What you find is a quiet, well presented property with a large grassy yard and some games for the kids, nice pool, lovely outlook over a green valley and a very pleasant, well equipped cottage which comfortably slept 5 of us. We liked having all the mod cons available (kitchen, laundry, bbq etc) and settled in here for 5 night without a problem. We cooked several meals here with produce sourced from local markets and it was great fun - very easy to feel at home. When we did have a minor problem (I couldn't work the TV) Chris was on hand to fix it without fuss. There were some other guests staying here, but we rarely noticed them at all.

Beds were comfortable, if small, and we were able to sleep quite well here. Being woken by only the sound of birds in the morning was great. This is a beautiful part of the world, and being able to wander around the region from this base was great. We loved spending time with the kids here, and would certainly recommend La Ferme de La Tour for families.

Be aware that if you stay here there is an expectation that you take your own rubbish out and tidy the cottage up before you leave - but remember this is a farm cottage in the country - that's how it works and it was not a problem at all for us, but don't come here expecting to be able to dial "9" for housekeeping and concierge.

We are an Aussie family of 5 who spent a wonderful 4 days at Le Ferme de la Tour. The accommodation was very comfortable and our 3 sons enjoyed the large expanse of lawn, sporting equipment and pool. We all enjoyed the local walks and the very rural setting. The owner and his wife were good hosts and we appreciated their speedy response to maintenance or other special requests. We have very fond memories of our time there and hope to come back one day.

Just back home from a week here and we loved it. A really nice rural location with fantastic views over the countrside. I loved watching the views and the light change with the weather. And eating cherries off the tree...
Good facilities eg lovely pool, badminton etc, Inside was really nice with good quality furnishings and a well-equipped kitchen. I think the owners have done a really good job and made a lovely peaceful place to spend a quiet week or so. It's true there are people around but no-one bothered us and its nice to have someone to talk to if you're in the mood for company. Lots of helpful information in the booklet about places to visit etc
There are some great walks from the door. Our favourite walk was going to the nearby gardens at the Manoir d'Eyrignac (good restaurant/tea room too)
Sarlat market was a bit too touristy for us on the Saturday but the Wednesday food market was excellent and we enjoyed the town. And we came to love the area, very green, pretty houses, lots of walnut trees and beautiful villages. We were very sad to leave but felt much better after our week here. Not sure when we will be in this part of France again but would definitely recommed La Ferme to a freind.
