“Great for cyclists, wonderful welcome.”
Reviewed 27 June 2014

Breakfast is a real treat at Raines Close. For the health conscious there is a wide selection of fruit and muesli and yoghurts and for those with an appetite there is of course a first rate cooked breakfast. There's a view out of the window, gentle music playing, and good conversation with your hosts who are friednly and knowledgeable about the area. And that's what makes a grea B&B I think, the quality of the hospitality, not just the room, and David and Geraldine could not have been more hospitable. Don't get me wrong, the room was fine, charming in fact, clean and comfortable, but the welcome is the thing I will remember for some time to come.

Raines Close is on Station road, and positioned perfectly for the start/end of the Tour de France cycle route from Grassington (go to the Dales tourist website for a list of day rides and routes). I was there during the Grassington Festival which was just great, a buzz and an atmostphere about the whole place that was just so relaxing. For the cyclist this a perfect place to stay, a garage to store bikes, and breakfast portions to suit the appetites of people setting out for a long day in the saddle. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Bathroom was small, so if you are grossly overweight or disabled, look elsewhere.

Thank you for your comments A. The room you occupied does have the smallest bathroom but is still adequate for the leanest of cyclists! Other rooms do have larger facilities. Enjoy Le Tour and we look forward to seeing you again next time.

I have just returned home after spending three nights at this superb place and it is the second time that my friend and I have stayed here whilst enjoying our annual walking weekend, again the accommodation was faultless! Perfect friendly hosts that really welcome you into their home, lovely breakfasts and set in the most amazing place. Stayed in the twin room downstairs where we had easy access to the garden which is perfect to watch all the birdlife, baby bunnies and a duck who was very interested in our bag of crisps!

Room Tip: Twin room downstairs has easy access to the beautifully maintained garden, perfect for sitting out o...

Stay here, it's run by a really helpful, friendly, genuinely nice couple. You won't regret it. The room was spotless, the bed was comfortable, the breakfast was all you could ask. It's a short walk to the pubs and they let us leave our car there for a few hours because they were going to enjoy a day off. What more do you want?

Five of us stayed here recently for our second night when walking the Dales Way. Geraldine gave us a very warm welcome after our long walk from Ilkley.
The bedrooms were very clean and comfortable and we were given fresh milk for our tea which we really needed after a long day.
We were given recommendations on where to eat that night which were very good too.
We had ordered pack lunches from our first stop off on the Dales Way and they did not provide any fruit. Geraldine made 5 of us very happy when we came down to breakfast the next day - lots of fresh fruit and also prunes - delicious! The cooked breakfast was also excellent.
We can really recommend Raines Close as a great place to stay - not just for walkers either!!

Fresh fruit is the norm at Raines Close and is just part of our breakfast menu. We are however delighted that you enjoyed all aspects of your stay, not just with us, but Grassington also. Thank you.

This is a superb B&B, particularly if you're doing the Way of the Roses C2C

They have a large secure shed for your bike, and the rooms are comfortable and well equipped

I stayed in the twin room downstairs which had an excellent en-suite bathroom

The cooked breakfast in the morning is simply stunning

Incredibly friendly and professional owners

Room Tip: Take the ground floor if you don't mind a single bed. The garden view and bathroom are worth it.

I purchased a nights stay for my parents as a present, they loved it. They stayed in the ground floor garden room which they said, was spacious clean and had fabulous views. Their hosts were very welcoming and they thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast. Would recommend to anyone.

We stayed only 3 nights but wished it was longer. We have stayed at Raines close before Geraldine and David took it over and it is still really lovely. The hospitality is 2nd to none and room 5 overlooking an immaculate garden was so comfortable and clean and we wanted for nothing. The breakfast was 1st rate and plenty of it we did not eat lunch just an evening meal. We left there on Wednesday and went on to Whitby for 2 days which was a different view off this beautiful county of Yorkshire. Geraldine we have just arrived home in Essex and tasted a slice of your lovely fruit cake. We will definitely be back to stay with you as soon as we can.

Room Tip: Please be sure that my review is an honest account of my stay at Raines close and would recommend ro...
